Usain St. Leo Bolt: Origins

USAIN ST. LEO BOLT is a world renowned Sprinter from the Caribbean island of Jamaica. Usain Bolt was born on 21st August, 1986 in the parish of Trelawny, which is Jamaica's 5th largest parish.

Usain was raised by his parents Jennifer and Wellesley Bolt and he has two (2) siblings - a brother, Sadiki, and a sister, Sherine.

Trelawny is also the birthplace of Usain's fellow Jamaican, Veronica Campbell-Brown, a renowned female Sprinter who has won seven (7) Olympic medals between 2000 and 2012 - 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze.

Two (2) of Bolt's other interests include dancing and football. He also says that he loves 'Chicken Nuggets'. He must really love them, if he mentions them.

Journey with me as I explore Usain St. Leo Bolt's many accomplishments.

A 'BOLT", the Speed of Lightning!

Usain Bolt's sprinting potential was recognized during his Primary School days when he attended Waldensia Primary and became the school's fastest 100m runner at age 12.

His sprinting accomplishments continued during his Secondary School life and while attending William Knibb Memorial High School, he won his "first annual high school championships medal in 2001, taking the silver medal in the 200 metres with a time of 22.04 seconds (Wikipedia).

"His rise to prominence on the World stage started in earnest when, at age 15, he won the 200m sprint at the 2002 IAAF World Junior Championships, in a time of 20.61 seconds before a home crowd in Kingston, Jamaica.

3 Guinness World Records !!!

Usain Bolt has been nicknamed "Lightning Bolt" and as at August 12, 2012, Usain holds the following three (3) Guinness World Records which attest to his 'lightning' speed on the tracks and render him more than deserving of his nickname - "Lightning Bolt" :

1. Fastest run 100 metres (male):
Usain ran his fastest 100m Sprint at the World Championships held in Berlin, Germany on August 20, 2009 - the day before his 23rd birthday - when he clocked a time of 9.58 seconds.2.

2. Fastest run 200 metres (male):
He earned this Guinness World Record in 2009, after clocking a time of 19.19 seconds in the Men's 200m sprint at the World Championships held in Berlin, Germany on August 20, 2009.3.

3. First athlete to set three sprinting world records at a single Olympic Games:
Bolt copped this Guinness World Record after his stellar performance at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in China, after winning Gold medals in the Men's 100 m, 200 m and 4 x 100 m relay, becoming the first Olympian to do so in the history of the Olympic Games.

Something tells me he's about to get his 4th Guinness World Record after winning three (3) Gold medals, at a second Olympic event in the same three (3) events - 100m, 200m and 4 x 100 m relay. This time at the London 2012 Olympics.

since around 1977.

b. First man ever to win 6 Olympic Gold medals in Sprinting.

c. First 5-time World champion.

d. First man to win the 100 m and 200 m titles at consecutive Olympic Games
[2008 and 2012].

e. First man to win the 100 m, 200 m and 4x100m relay titles at consecutive Olympic Games
[2008 and 2012].

Usain Bolt and FASHION !

Using Usain Bolt's favorite colors, styles, music, and patois phrases, PUMA has partnered with Usain to create "THE BOLT COLLECTION" - a stylish clothing collection including shoes, wind jackets, sweat jackets, tees, shorts, tights etcetera for both men and women.

PUMA says that the collection "adapts to everything from the warm-up to the after party."

Usain Bolt: Performance at the London 2012 Olympics!

The 25 year old 'bolted' passed his competitors and won his 4th overall Olympic Gold medal on Sunday, August 5th at the London 2012 Olympics.

This Gold win was in the Men's 100m in a time of 9.63 seconds; 0.06 seconds faster than his first Olympic Gold in the Beijing 2008 Olympics where he clocked 9.69 seconds.

Then on Thursday, August 9th, Usain produced another stellar performance capturing his 2nd Olympic Gold medal in the Men's 200m in a time of 19.32 seconds.

Leaving spectators all over the world astonished, Usain and his countrymen (Nesta Carter, Michael Frater and Yohan Blake) won Olympic Gold in the Men's 4x100m Relay in a New World Record time of 36.85 seconds on Saturday, August 11; the previous world record time was set in 2011 at 37.04 seconds.

This brought Usain's total Olympic medal count up to 6 Olympic GOLD medals!
