Warrior Riot Lacrosse Gloves Review

Updated on July 3, 2013

You'll be surprised just how good they are!

The Warrior Riot lacrosse gloves are almost certainly the very first pair of gloves with interchangeable cuffs for instant customization. They include two sets of cuffs. Providing a new tight fitting pattern, you get an ideal cozy fit. The single layered grip offers the right feel of the shaft that is very natural. These gloves are appropriate for all positions. They are on the market in 13" and 12" glove sizes.

Positive points

Wrist guard is great

Enabling your wrist to flex normally, the wrist pads of the Riot lax gloves from Warrior possess the regular 3 pad coverage around the back, offering an accurately inserted split. This means nearly a double covering of padding over the back of the wrist because the two outer pads just about touch.

Pinkie padding

The tiny finger receives some added coverage with an additional pad at the side of the glove. Gloves without this characteristic are actually behind. Your knuckles are not uncovered via the gaps between the pads because the padding around the rear of the fingers is smartly positioned directly above them. Even though prevalent on most gloves, the forefinger is slightly exposed at the side. Companies that are looking to be different might do best to develop a solution for this region.

External material is robust

The exterior layer of the Warrior Riot lax gloves is extremely strong. You just have to press the blocks at the back of the hand to get an idea how solid they are. You are most likely to get a great deal of use of these gloves due to the fact they feature a sturdy and water-proof outside fabric.

Snug finger slots

The one thing I really like regarding these gloves, is just how close they fit. The gloves felt so snug that I needed to check that the pair were 13" because I was thinking I had instead picked up 12"s. I did in fact get the 13" and they are supposed to be tight when you 1st wear them. The firm fit helps to keep your fingers shielded from slashes by lowering the chance of your fingers popping out the side. It is worthwhile putting up with the firm fit even though they do feel somewhat awkward. It is the type of protection you need and you'll get used to the tight fit. One added bonus with the tiny finger holes is the fact that they follow any tiny movement of the fingers. The gloves gladly follow all the hand motions with minimal work.

Excellent grip and feel, and long-lasting

I do not see any need to tape your handle, but in the event you like to have a significant level of grip then knock yourself out. There aren't any sort of attachments on the fingertips or palms for further grip, but you don't require any. The single layered palms supply you with a fantastic feel of the shaft. The rate that the gloves wear out, however, could be quicker due to the fact the single-layered fabric tends to be thinner. Yet the Warrior Riot lacrosse gloves made it through our tests well and didn't seem to tire out. The leather flexed nicely from the get go and seemed light shortly after. They bend nicely with your palm and seem rather pliable. It often feels as though you've got almost nothing on mainly because they're just so comfortable. These gloves should break-in very quickly. You aren't going to need to wait a while at all. The palms held up very well and I did not see any imperfections in the least. The conventional indicators of wear and tear just weren't visible and also the leather material was entirely in one piece. There was a little bit of pilling close to the webbing of the thumb, but that was it.

Cool hands from the cool design

Warrior has put in some mesh air vents in the palms to help keep the hands airated. There's even a bigger fine mesh section near the base of your thumb to further enhance the airflow. They seem to provide adequate air flow for your hands to keep them free of moisture.

Aspects to watch out for

The gloves are short

Manufactured with quite short cuffs that don't extend substantially over your wrists, the Riot lacrosse gloves from Warrior do look to stop a bit short in this area. Most of the vendors seems to be proceeding that way with their concepts and I am not much of a enthusiast of this. The recent approach looks to be go light.

I prefer a fixed cuff

My concern about the detachable cuff is simply that; they're removable. Fixed cuffs will remain in position for longer and subsequently offer additional safety. There is a very small risk of these uncovering the top of your hand from all the moving around. Yet, the switchable cuffs are large enough to shield the back of the wrist and they're also pretty firm, therefore there is not much chance of them moving out from position.

Gotta dry them out

Leather gloves don't enjoy the wet, thus to be sure your Riot gloves from Warrior do last you'll need to get them dry. A sunny place together with a bit of air flow is a fantastic area to stick them. In case the palms do dry-out and get inflexible, rubbing them a lttle bit will loosen them up. Wearing gloves with dryed out palms is a sure way to destroy them.

Summary

Once in a while, some thing unexpected comes about which is what I absolutely love about evaluating lax equipment. You're given some equipment with not much of a rep and it turns out to be a real gem. And a great example of this are the Warrior Riot lacrosse gloves. However while I do think they are terrific, I have spotted a variety of quips on discussion boards and overheard remarks about them that aren't good. They are really well matched up to the top grades of lacrosse players. Make sure to include them on your short list when you are looking for a brand new set of lacrosse gloves.
