Yoga Gloves And Socks

Updated on July 24, 2014

Best Yoga Gloves And Socks For Your Yoga Practice

Yoga gloves and socksare an important accesssory for a good yoga session. They have recently started to rise in popularity and many yoga practitioners only now are finding out about these close to miracle-working yoga accessories. So what exactly are these yoga gloves and why would anyone need them?

Yoga gloves and socks are specially designed to minimize slippage during a Yoga practice. The gloves are made of comfortable and breath-through cotton, and the addition of lycra allows the glove to stretch.

Stick-e Socks and Gloves Combo

Great to avoid injuries, slips and falls, and they help you continue your yoga practice even if you have an injured wrist.

Some yoga practitioners only use gloves, however the socks have their own merit as well. Some look more like a mitten with a separate space for the big toe, while the rest of the toes are together grouped in the larger space. They also come in a design where each toe has its own compartment. With the socks you gain improved balance as the grip is much better. The no-slip bottom toe socks make it quite easy to master movements such as the Warrior pose.

They absorb sweat and keep your toes and feet warm. If you have yoga gloves and socks on you, you can even practice yoga without a mat!

Check out the great selection of padded yoga gloves and socks that yoga enthusiasts all over the world are liking more and more. They sure make it so much easier to practice yoga anywhere!

Yoga Paws ELITE: Mini Yoga Mats for Hands and FeetCHECK PRICE NOW

Here are some of my favorite yoga gloves and socks: the Yoga Paws Elite. If you already have the original Yoga paws, you'll immediately notice the difference between what you have and these. Introduced in December 2011, the new version is made of better materials that offer a much strong grip, while keeping you from any slippages. The material used is natural rubber, and the modern design offers every benefit you can imagine from yoga gloves. They stabilize and balance your body while doing the asana poses, they offer extra padding for comfort and they're also great for travel, as they easily fit in any bag, a purse, your pocket or other small carry place.

Furthermore if you don't have a lot of space to practice your yoga, a heavy yoga mat might not be the best accessory to have. With the Yoga paws this problem disappears, since they don't need any place at all, not even for storage.

Btw something that I personally love about these gloves: they have external seams on the hands, meaning that you don't feel those hard pressure points when putting your weight on your hands or when spreading your fingers. They're really comfy for practice.

If you're not sure whether the new Elite Yoga Paws are the right ones for you, here is the very popular original design. They are made of Cellomer, which give a high elasticity, they're very comfortable and many people say that they're better than a regular mat. Perfect for any teacher, student, traveler, also great for weight lifting if that's your sport, and very adequate for proper wrist support.

Gaiam Grippy Yoga Sock and Glove SetCHECK PRICE NOW

Gaiam, the popular yoga mats manufacturer, has come up with a couple of very useful yoga gloves and socks that are worth mentioning. The ones I've actually seen in action are the gloves and socks set called Gaiam Grippy Yoga Sock and Glove Set. While I don't personally have them, a friend of mine is using them regularly for her yoga and pilates practice.

They are great because they offer a wonderful grip without slips, which is extremely important when doing exercises. You can use these without an actual yoga mat, which is perfect if you're living in a small apartment or if you're always on the road (perfect as yoga gloves for travel) and don't want to get special yoga mats for traveling. The design increases your balance and stability. Made of 92% cotton, 6% nylon, 2% elastane, they give enough elasticity to your grip to make them very comfy.

In addition they suck up any sweat, which is a great plus in my book. (try to do yoga when you're sweating like a horse and you have to stop every few minutes from your practice for that).

Here you get a 2 pack set of the Gaiam Grippy yoga socks, one in small and one in medium size. Perfect as gift, or to give one pair to another person to practice yoga together.

Stick-e Socks and Gloves ComboCHECK PRICE NOW

The Stick-e Yoga Socks and Gloves Combo is another great yoga set of accessories that will serve you well. The gloves are fingerless, if that's what you prefer more than those with full finger enclosure, and the socks allow each toe to be free as they have a hole for each toe. The sole is non-slip, yet quite smooth to the touch. The great thing about this is that there are no bumps to feel through when doing your yoga exercises.

If you're a sweaty person, these yoga gloves for sweaty hands will help a lot as they are made to absorb the extra sweat from the palms. If you do need to wipe the sweat from the brows and your face, the back of the gloves allow you to do just that with a simple hand movement. Quite comfy. They come in medium and large size, and the colors are black, as shown here, and beige, which will be shown below.

Personally I do prefer the black version, however if you like another color for your gloves and socks, the beige ones with blue run through it are just great. Same quality and sizes as the black ones shown above.

ToeSox Grip GlovesCHECK PRICE

The ToeSox Grip Gloves make it easy to do activities such as yoga, pilates, or other exercises where hands could otherwise easily slip. They offer a good grip for the palms, while the fingers are free to move as they need to. If you don't have a mat or can't afford one (due to space requirements, for example), these are extremely useful to use. Yoga teachers can also use them to show to their students various positions ' on the fly' so to speak.

Also great for sweaty palms. Combined with the toe sox (shown below), they are perfect for any yoga practitioner - for yourself or as gift for one!

Here are my favorite types of toe socks with enclosed toes. Also made by ToeSox, they are great for yoga and for those people who don't fancy much the half free toes design shown above. They do have a separate compartment for each toe, offering full flexibility, stability and grip. Also perfect for winter to keep the toes warm (a big plus for me!)

Bionic Women's Fitness Gloves

Bionics have come up with some great cushioned yoga gloves for fitness, including also pilates, gym, aerobics, and pretty much anything that needs a strong grip, without slips. The relief padding on the palms avoids forming blisters when working out, and the ergonomic design help with carpal tunnel. They were originally designed by a designed by an orthopedic hand surgeon, which means that he really knew what to create to help anyone who needs a great set of gloves without putting any extra stress on the palms. Recommended product. Avaialble in pink, and in black with pink.

Nice lens! Haven't tried yoga socks or gloves, imagine that it would hurt to practice on the floor if you do anything else than standing postures? Although I could imagine using gloves and socks on a mat if it's slippery.
