10 of the Best Women's Winter Snow Boots
It's cold outside but your feet will thank you for turning up the heat in fur lined boots
Ladies..It's getting to that time of year when you should be thinking about your feet and how they're going to get through yet another winter without those great, new boots you promised to buy them. With Europe and the U.S bracing for another potentially record breaker of a freezefest, it makes sense to go all out for warmth and so here are 10 of the best snow boots to keep them toasty this winter.
I have to be honest, I'm never been much of a winter boots kinda gal. Even as a previously weather-hardy Brit, still my idea of winter boots began and ended with canvas hi-tops, but that's probably because I've spent the best part of the last decade living in the intense humidity of Asia, where the closest thing to snow to be found was on the inside of my freezer. Fast forward to today and, with a winter in mainland Europe under my belt, and I finally get it. Snow isn't just for Christmas round these parts, and that's why I determined that this year I will invest in quality boots that won't have my frozen toes slushing it out in a pity party of my making because I cheaped out on boots that simply weren't up to the job.
I don't know about you, but my heart kind of sinks a little at some of the choice in regular stores. It's all a bit meh. Sure, I require the tootsie equivalent of a tog rating that could bring a cold blooded reptile out in a sweat, but that doesn't mean I want to compromise on design. I usually shy away from the thought of fur (fake or otherwise) on anything other than a parka trim, but I'm relaxing the brief here to include sheepskin and hair because it's just such a treat to step in to furry boots and your feet will thank you for it every time you do. Similarly, while I'm not really looking for anything overly formal or dressy (I tend to live in jeans when the temperatures take a dive) I probably don't need the kind of technical specs worthy of an Everest ascent either - but a little engineering really goes a long way in cold weather. Style-wise, I want something practical, with a jaunty nod in the direction of hip sportswear, with perhaps a folksy or vintage edge, and yet robust enough to withstand the kind of freezing slushfest that seeps in to anything not glued or sewn tighter than a Housewife in Beverley Hills.
With so many great boots available online, the jury is still out for me, but I'm having a lot of fun choosing and I thought it would be cool to share a few that have made the cut. Why not take a look at my choices at the bottom of the page, but don't forget to answer the poll! (It's just for fun folks)...
