Cellulite

Cellulites are bumps under your skin that cause the surface of your body to appear wavy. It is caused by little crowded fat pockets right under your skin. These are fat cells that become enlarged, causing them to take up more space than is normal between the skin's connective tissues. Then, these fat cells expand in these spaces which then results in the overlying skin to dimple in. Collagen fibers that connect fat to the skin may stretch, break down, or pull tight. As a result, fat cells bulge out.

Cellulite is a bane for those who want a perfect figure, and it leads to depression in many people, and many do not dare to wear short skirts or shorts and cover up at the beach because of it. Unfortunately, weight loss, dieting, or exercise alone will not influence your cellulite — anyone with any body type can have it.

This can get worse with age if left untreated. The most common affective areas are the hips, buttocks, thighs, lower stomach, and arms. About 90% of women suffer from some degree of cellulite, ranging from just noticeable to severe. It is not tied to obesity — it can develop on all body types, ranging from slim, to normal, to fat.

Causes

Causes of cellulite include:

  • Injuries that break the skin
  • Infections associated with a surgical procedure
  • Foreign objects that get into the skin
  • When bones get infected under the skin. (For example, a long-existing open wound that is deep enough to expose to the bone bacteria.)

Cellulite usually occurs in areas that have suffered damage or for other reasons, such as inflammatory lesions, cuts, and contaminated areas that suffer from poor skin conditions.

Prevention

There are a few important steps that, while they cannot guarantee that you will ensure prevention completely, they are still very crucial in protecting your skin.

  • It is very important to keep your skin clean by practicing good personal hygiene.
  • If you experience pain or discomfort from an area on your skin, check to see what it looks like. If it looks inflamed and this progresses, you will probably need treatment.
  • Wear sturdy, well-fitting shoes or slippers with wide cotton socks. Avoid walking barefoot in areas where you do not have a good idea about what you are walking on. For example, in garages, on a beach, or in the woods.
  • A healthy diet that includes regular exercise, cutting consumption of carbohydrates and saturated fats, ensuring that three-quarters of the food you eat is fruits, whole grains and vegetables. Also, drink two glasses of water before you consume coffee, tea or alcohol, drinking eight glasses of water per day.

When to See a Doctor

Some injuries may be at greater risk for infection than others. You may be able to prevent infection or have to take antibiotics. You should contact your doctor if you have injuries similar to the following:

  • Human or animal bites
  • Perforation wounds deeper than a half-inch (like stepping on a nail)
  • Crushed tissue that bleeds, burns that blister, frost bite, or deep injuries with dirt in them
  • Injuries in contact with seawater, especially if you have liver disease
  • If you have diabetes or other significant medical conditions, such as liver or kidney disease. These conditions may be present without symptoms, so it's essential that you get tested for them even if you don't think you have it. Follow your doctor's instructions for improving these conditions.
  • Talk with your doctor if you have swelling in your limbs that does not go away.

What Can You Expect from a Doctor?

You may want to visit a doctor to get rid of cellulite. If so, what can you expect?

Most likely, the doctor will make the diagnosis on the basis of medical history and a physical examination. The doctor may also draw blood for testing if he or she feels that the infection is severe enough to be in the bloodstream. The doctor also may order an x-ray if he or she suspects foreign objects in the skin. They may also check if any bone is infected and needs to be treated to get rid of cellulite.

How to Get Rid of Cellulite

If the infection is not too severe, you can get rid of cellulite at home. These treatments are 100% safe, they contain only natural ingredients. While there is no magic way to get rid of it overnight, there are a number of ways to treat it naturally. Below are some effective natural remedies:

1. Change your diet

Changing your diet can help improve conditions and help to prevent future cellulite forming. Try to cut out simple carbohydrates, like white flour and sugar, and cut out processed foods. If you eat sweets or snacks, try to be more natural — try organic chocolate or fresh popcorn.

2. Aerobic weightlifting

Try aerobic weightlifting. Most people who do aerobic weightlifting all week claim that they see results with their cellulite after only 10 days.

3. Use a dry brush

Dry brush your skin. Dry brushing is an ancient method to help improve skin quality. It also helps with blood circulation, which may help to get rid of and prevent cellulite.

Using a natural bristle brush to massage the affected areas will improve blood circulation and stimulate the lymph nodes while providing gentle exfoliation to the skin. You get rapid improvement in the appearance of the skin and will eventually get rid of cellulite from this.

It is best to brush the affected areas three times a week for five minutes just before taking a shower. It is essential that you do so in a circular motion and rub the skin gently.

4. Yoga

Try yoga. Some people claim that doing yoga has helped them to see a reduction.

5. Herbal body rub

You can also use an herbal body rub. You can make use of ingredients that are already available in your home. What's more, it is a natural home remedy that will not harm your skin unlike aggressive chemicals.

What you'll need:

  • 1/4 cup coffee
  • 1/3 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/3 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, apricot oil, or sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions:

  1. Grind 1/4 cup of coffee beans until very fine. Add 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Mix thoroughly. (The caffeine in coffee helps tighten the skin, while the herb helps to stimulate blood circulation.)
  2. Add three tablespoons of olive oil, apricot oil or sesame oil, and a tablespoon of honey. Combine to mix well. Honey has antiseptic properties, while the oil is used to moisturize your skin naturally.
  3. After the shower, rub it vigorously on the affected area for a few minutes. Wash it off after a few minutes.

It's Not Fat, but Poor Circulation

Most think cellulite is solely associated with fat. Naturally cellulite is where fat cells are swollen, but the problem cannot be solved only by losing weight. If you logically think a little, you naturally understand that it is not related to being overweight or having fat.

The majority of the cellulite is associated with poor functioning of the circulatory system. In particular, the local microcirculation. The body stores fat on the areas where the microcirculation is worst. Hence, many are fuller at the hips, buttocks, and abdomen. Not only is fat blocked in these places, waste and moisture remain trapped here. We must therefore focus on the improvement of the microcirculation in the first place. We can do this using special massage and essential oils. Once the microcirculation is back underway, the challenge is to remove through diet and supplements.

6. Massage and essential oils

Various massage techniques and the use of essential oils are the most important ways to get rid of cellulite. Do them daily, preferably even several times a day, and use every free moment to massage off your cellulite and stimulate local blood circulation. The more, the better.

7. Drink water

Drink a minimum of one and a half liters of water, herbal tea, or green tea per day. All other drinks should be avoided.

8. Nutritional supplements

Dietary supplements are not necessary, but they can make it easier to reduce and remove. Choose capsules and tablets that have a detoxifying and diuretic, or those specifically intended for cellulite (no slimming pills and slimming preparations).

Start this program with a pineapple supplement. The pineapple helps in formation of connective tissue that around the cellulite and thus assures that accumulated fat, fluid and toxins can be removed safely. Pineapple is now used in most anti-cellulite preparations. Look at the ingredients to be sure. Pineapple supplements should be taken continuously for at least six months.

9. Velashape

If there is still a bit of cellulite visible after four months of trying the above methods, you can try a treatment with Velashape. This is a device that combines role-and depresso-massage with infrared light and bipolar radio frequencies. The effect of a Velashape on cellulite skin is amazing. However, they are quite expensive so do this only if you want to remove the last remains. The last bit of cellulite is often the most persistent. For the most part, however, you can easily remove the majority of it yourself with at-home remedies.

10. Coffee scrub

A coffee scrub is considered one of the most effective treatments for the elimination of cellulite. It is best to use coffee grounds for gentle exfoliation and stimulating blood flow to the area while having an antioxidant that protects the skin from damage.

  • Mix coffee ground with a little hot water so that a paste is made. Alternatively, you can mix them with olive oil or honey. This way you will hydrate and nourish the skin for an even better appearance.
  • The coffee grounds and the solvent must be a two-to-one ratio. For best results, apply the scrub to dry skin hydrated for 10 minutes, twice a week.

11. Exercise and hydration

This is perhaps the most "natural" of all methods. The key is to engage in muscle toning exercises for shaping the body. Cardio will also help, but it's intense and more difficult. Hydration is a critical part of the treatment. You should drink eight glasses of water daily for optimal results.

12. Mesotherapy

There are other treatment options that claim to get rid of cellulite, but there is almost no evidence of their effectiveness. For example, mesotherapy is a therapy originally developed to relieve pain from inflammatory skin diseases in Europe. It involves injecting substances such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and enzymes into the tissue just under the skin. Mesotherapy can break down fat and bring a slight improvement in the appearance of cellulite. However, it also carries risks, including swelling, infection and irregular contours. Engage in this at your own caution.

Don't Think. Act!

Do not give up even if you do not immediately see results. Cellulite needs to come loose for several months, so chances are that you won't see any results until only after a few months. If your cellulite gets worse over time, don't worry — this is actually a good sign. It means that the cellulite is loose and that they can be easily removed from now on.

      I used to suffer from cellulite on my legs for about 10 years so I can relate to people who experience it. No creams, products or ointments ever really did anything for me but I was actually able to completely get rid of my cellulite naturally after my cousin told me how. I only had to do 2 things:

      1. Drink at least 1.5 litres of water everyday. Hydration is one of the main aspects (way more so than diet ever was)

      Try those two steps and hopefully you will get as much luck with getting rid of your cellulite as i did. Another thing worth trying is apple cider vinegar which works short term but it tastes disgusting and you really need to prevent it from returning.

      I used to have really bad cellulite on the backs of my thighs all the way up to my butt, until i received a body brush as a Christmas present ( clearly somebody trying to tell me that my cellulite was making them secretly hurl) anyhoo I thought I'd give it a go, after all even I was starting to secretly hurl over the thousands of bumps starting to appear all over my once perfectly smooth butt! I did beauty therapy at college so I new what to do, upward strokes towards the heart. At first it hurt! The brush was really hard but I percevererd and low and behold after a good couple of weeks of brushing up towards my heart for 5 mins morning and night I could see a massive difference! My smooth backside was slowly coming back! So to cut a long story short I would definatly recommend giving the body brush a whirl.

      3 years before I tried to do exercises to reduce my cellulite on my butt.... but at that i had a baby with 6 months old.... Really I am saying that time I could not continue the exercises. I know if i did... I can reduce. But what to do that time no helpers to take care of my kid. That luckily I came to know about the Dermalmd serum for reduce cellulite.
