This is something I learnt from my mom, and she learnt from her mom: When you need an instant makeover, experiment with your hair! This is one of the truest, most trusted pieces of advice I’ve ever been given. Your hairstyle frames your face and is one of the first things people notice about you. It reveals a lot about your personality too. So, if you want an image makeover, or even a fresh look, your hair’s the place to start. Anything that brings about a change in your hair, maybe a new haircut, hairstyle or a different hair color is sure to give you a ‘new look.’

So, why not try something different this summer and experiment with our hair color! It’ll give you, not just a makeover, but also a confidence boost. With such a change, you’re sure to have a great summer! Here are a couple of hair color trends that I came across and really liked:

Subtle Ombre´, or Sombre´

Ombre´ was a celebrated trend till a year back. The trend featured dark roots that blended into lighter hues as you moved towards the tips of your hair. However, this trend has been modified to give us a chicer version: the Sombre´ trend. This hair coloring technique involves softer diffusions. As the gradation of color is not that extreme, as in the Ombre trend, your hair gets a more natural look.

Blonde with caramel / honey highlights

This trend looks sophisticated whilst still giving your locks a luscious, natural look. You can color your roots caramel and infuse occasional caramel streaks throughout. You can also opt for a pale blond shade with honey highlights.

Rose Gold:

Rose gold hair color has made a comeback. It packs in more style than strawberry blonde as it has a rich, deeper hue and more dimension. These rosy gold locks look gorgeous in the sunlight and bring out the pink tones in your complexion.

Rich Mahogany:

Deep hues are always gorgeous; moreover, they go well with most skin tones. Color your hair a rich mahogany and give your locks a healthy, luscious look. Rich mahogany looks good on long and short hair. For a hint of surprise, you can highlight your tips with copper. L’Oreal’s ‘550 Mahogany’ hair color from the Casting Creme´ Gloss Range is a deep, beautiful shade that really brings out the color in your face. L’Oreal’s Casting Creme´ Gloss hair colors are a favourite with many as they contain no ammonia and also give a glossy shine to your hair.

Reds

Red seems to be the hottest shade for 2014. From subtle hues, to bright fiery ones, red hair color really makes a statement. Choose a shade that matches your personality. If you’re a working professional, you can opt for a natural-looking red tinge. For the bolder ones, bright red highlights or tips never go out of fashion!

@Monis Mas: Thanks for stopping by. Yes, red is quite a perky color. :) But, don't underestimate the power of classic blond highlights. There's so much to experiment with there too! The recent Oscars amply proved it. :)

I love the red :-) So bold! But I go safer, with blond highlights.
