5 YouTube Beauty Gurus To Watch

Updated on September 16, 2015

Following an active YouTube channel can sometimes feel like following your favorite television series. Some YouTube users, like the ever-popular (not to mention hilarious) Jenna Marbles even post new videos on a set day every week. Since it began in 2005 YouTube has exploded in popularity. This gave even the most average Joe an opportunity for a taste of fame, without having to be a Kardashian.

My favorite channels to follow on YouTube are makeup and fashion gurus. If you're looking for a list of the 5 best beauty gurus to watch, this may not be quite what you're looking for. These are 5 girls that I have personally enjoyed following and whom I believe should be recognized in the YouTube world. Some of them are wildly popular with nearly 3 million subscribers, and the others are just extremely talented young women who deserve recognition for their amazing makeup tutorials. These girls are an example of how you can turn your true passion into an opportunity that can ultimately become a career.

1. Bubzbeauty

Bubzbeauty, or "Bubbi" is the #1 most subscribed beauty guru in the United Kingdom, and it's easy to see why. Her videos are well-made, organized and classy, yet easygoing at the same time. She has more than one channel, but bubzbeauty is the one to go to for makeup tutorials, hair tutorials, and fashion.

I started following her because her makeup tutorials are easy to follow and, unlike a lot of other tutorials on YouTube, you can actually clearly see everything she is doing. She carefully explains each step in both makeup and hair tutorials, and the end result is always beautiful. She has a thorough understanding of beauty and skincare, often posting videos about how to take better care of your skin, and homemade beauty mask recipes.

With her overwhelming success, high quality videos, and likeable personality, Bubbi has gained nearly 3 million subscribers on YouTube. You can't go wrong with this girl. The only thing you might find wrong with Bubbi is that it's hard to watch her videos without feeling envious of her awesome hair...

Bubz has more recently shown a lot of activity on her vlog channel, Bubzvlogz, which provides a closer look at her daily life with her husband and new baby Isaac.

2. Megan Parken

Megan Parken is another example of the possibilities YouTube can bring to a young person. Although she has only just recently graduated from high school, Megan has given herself a jump start to her future with immense popularity from her channel. Megan has paved the way for her future as a public figure and grown a serious following along the way.

Megan Parken displays a vast collection of step-by-step hair tutorials, makeup tutorials, clothing hauls, and more. Her makeup style is natural and classic, without ever over-doing it. With over 800,000 subscribers, Megan seems to have her career started on the right track.

Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette

I bought this palette after seeing Megan use it in one of her eyeshadow tutorials. She's a big fan of MAC makeup, so to hear her give a great review on such an inexpensive product was a no-brainer for me. Upon arriving within just a few days this palette was in perfect condition, and leaves amazing results.

3. Julia Graf

Next it's off to Switzerland where we meet Julia Graf. This is a channel to follow if you are looking for makeup that is a little more adventurous and fun. Julia has some serious talent when it comes to creating unforgettable eyes. Although most of her looks would not be considered "everyday" looks, this girl knows what she's doing with an eyeshadow palette, so you'll learn something new with every tutorial.

Julia likes to take looks that she has seen on famous celebrities, in music videos, and magazines, and recreate them on herself. She does product reviews, fashion, and lately has kept viewers up to date with inspiring videos following her weight loss journey. Follow Julia on YouTube and you won't be disappointed.

4. ilikeweylie

It's extremely difficult not to like Weylie. With just over 1 million subscribers, ilikeweylie is one of my favorite channels to follow. Why you ask? Because she's real! Weylie isn't on YouTube to pump out channels with boring, straight forward makeup tutorials. She's hilarious!

I started following Weylie on YouTube because she posts beautiful videos with useful tips for real teens and young adults who don't have picture-perfect skin like the other gurus on YouTube. I followed her for her makeup tutorials, but I keep following her because I know that every time there is a new video posted by ilikeweylie, I'm going to get a good laugh.

5. JLovesMac1

To end on a high note we have Jarmaine. Her channel balances videos featuring makeup, hair, clothing, fitness, and comedy. Jarmaine is hilarious, and many agree as her subscriber following has reached nearly 2,000,000.

Watch her for her knowledge with the curling iron and extensions, and follow her for a good laugh.

That's it!

These are only five of countless beauty gurus found on YouTube. They are five girls who display clearly visible, easy-to-follow looks that are appropriate for any age. YouTube has opened the world of makeup up to so many new options. No longer do you have to try to understand how to achieve a smokey eye look from a terrible illustration on the back of the packaging. New looks are being shared every day, so if you're interested in looking your absolute best, you have nothing to lose! Start exploring, learn new techniques, and share the guru's you have discovered along the way with others.

No problem! Since writing this I've actually fallen in love with jlovesmac1 too, she's HILARIOUS. Very similar to weylie but posts more often. She does a big mix of things too, not solely makeup, so she's worth checking out as well!

Thank you for your feedback :)

Great hub and just what I was looking for. I follow only a few makeup tutorial beauty guru's on youtube and am looking for more. I like the different insights on how they do their makeup. I would have to say that my favorite Youtube guru is LittleKiva because she shares my same style(edgy and bold). Voted up!
