7 Easy Ways to Beat Wrinkles
Wrinkles are the fine lines, crease or the folds on the skin. Commonly, wrinkles appear as we grow older. Wrinkles are an inevitable part of our natural ageing process which is not possible to stop but can be controlled to some extent. As we grow older our skin is expected to become thinner, less elastic and experience a decline in its ability to protect itself from external environmental damages.
There are many factors that contribute to wrinkles such as:
If our skin has been immersed in water for a long time.
Habitual Facial Expression - Expressions that we wear most of the time. Our skin tends to rest or create fold in accordance to our facial expression.
Exposure to UV (ultraviolet light) - Sun damage, a very well-known factor and one of the biggest contributors in forming wrinkles. Studies have shown that up to 90% of the visible signs of ageing are caused by sun damage.
Smoking - Smoking again a well-known contributor to wrinkles. Cigarettes can irritate the skin and deprive it from oxygen and essential nutrients that our skin needs. Act of smoking can cause wrinkles around lips and cheeks.
Dehydration - Up to 60% of the human body is made up of water. High content of water is required to keep our skin supple, smooth, and healthy.
Medicines - Chemicals and certain acids present in the medicines also contribute to premature ageing and wrinkles.
Stress & Tension - A study has shown that stress and continuous tension about something can actually accelerate ageing process, leading to wrinkles.
Lifestyle Habit - Habits like sleeping late in the night and getting up late in the morning contribute a lot to wrinkles.
Genetic factors - If you parents developed wrinkles in early age then there are high chances that you also might get wrinkles early.

The more skin is exposed to sun the faster it will contribute to ageing. We all know that sunlight is the source of vitamin D. It should be a healthy balance of sunlight exposure, while at the same time avoiding excess. One should wear a good SPF lotion on exposed areas all the time; even if it is cloudy (Ultra Violet rays can penetrate the clouds). One can use hats and protective clothing to avoid harmful rays of sun.
Smoking is not only injurious to health causing disastrous disease such as cancer & heart problems, it can also damage your appearance. Cigarette smoke irritates the skin and deprives it from oxygen and other nutrients to the skin. The act of smoking creates wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth. So, if you are a smoker then one of the best things you can do for your appearance is to quit smoking. Giving up smoking will help slow down the current ageing rate of your skin.
Avoid Sugary Product
Too much of sugary products also contribute to Wrinkles. A process called Glycation takes place in our body when the blood sugar level goes up. This process of Glycation damages the collagen in our skin. And once damaged, the collagen hardens, leading to wrinkles and sagging. Therefore, in order to keep your skin smooth & frim, it is important to keep a check on how much sugar do you consume.
Eat fresh Vegetables, Fruits and drink plenty of water
Sun exposure being the biggest factor behind premature ageing, poor diets can also to be blamed for wrinkles. One must eat fresh fruits and vegetables as much as possible. Fruits and vegetables high in water content are very important to hydrate skin. Another very important element which needs to be taken care while keeping your skin hydrated is water. Make sure you drink good amount of water throughout the day to maintain your skin hydrated. Diet rich in anti-oxidant and Omega-3 fatty acids are great help to keep skin supple and nourished. Anti-oxidants help fight against free radicals that cause wrinkles. Food such as spinach, anti-oxidant rich berries and flax seeds are help to prevent wrinkles.
Unfortunately, first sign of ageing occur in the facial wrinkles on our skin and around the eyes. The skin around our eyes is the most sensitivity than any other part on the face. It can easily change shape, droop or become deformed due to unconscious frowning or squinting caused by poor eyesight. If you find yourself frequently squinting to see better, then it is very important for you to get your eye check-up done. It is not only important for your eyesight but also to avoid wrinkles that you might get due frequent squinting.
Stress and tension are also big contributors to wrinkles. Your state of mind has a lot to do with your state of appearance. Chronic stress accelerates cellular ageing which in turn leads to wrinkle formation on the skin. One can cope up with Stress full situations by experimenting techniques such as yoga, meditation, and stress- busting exercises.
At least 7 hours of good quality sleep is very important for the physical appearances. When you have good sleep, you wake up fresh.
· Please do not use heavy oils around the eye area before going to bed in the night. It causes the eye to be puffy in the morning.
· Avoid using harsh soaps and solid cleansing creams. Use natural oils such as Avocado oil to remove make-up and dirt.
· Avoid alcohol based products on face.
· Avoid alcohol, caffeine and cigarettes. These are the products which makes your skin dry.
