Lip Balm Recipe and How-To

Making lip balm is relatively easy and fun to do! I found most of the ingredients at my local health food store. I used party favor tins made by Wilton that are food safe, and came with printable labels to personalize. Decorating the tins can be as simple or as extravagant as you like. I made a variety of styles with stickers, ribbons and beads made for scrapbooking. The recipe below makes about 1 or 2 tins, but if you were to increase the recipe you would be able to make multiple tins for gifts or party favors. The finished product is cute and functional..

  • 1 tbls. Bee's Wax
  • 2 tsps. Castor Oil
  • 1 tsp. Honey
  • 2 drops Essential Oil of Choice
  • Tins

To begin with you need two pots. Add water to one and put the other on top to heat the pan. Add your bee's wax to the pan and heat until completely melted, then add the castor oil and honey. Continue heating until all your ingredients are mixed well. Remove from heat, add the essential oil and stir. Pour immediately into tins, let cool then decorate!
