A Review: No! No!
Why I Got One
To be completely honest I was skeptical about if this product would work. I had seen the commercials on TV, and have even seen the displays in shops. It sounded almost too good to be true. I looked into it on the No! No! website and read the reviews. I looked at the products. They all looked to fun ad easy to use with the sleek design and bright colors.
But, I neve did buy one. Honestly I work too hard for my money to take such a big chance on a product that was more than I could really afford. So, how did I come to own a No! No!? My parents seem to be addicted to QVC. It is not uncommon for me to come home and find a box sitting on my doorstep. I've gotten everything from containers, pots, and of course a No! No!. My mom knew that I hated to shave, but I frequently wear shorts and spend a lot of time in water for work. Shorts and lots of time in swimsuits means I either put up with the chore of shaving or deal with the embarrassment of hairy legs.
Trying it Out
I was super excited when I opened the box and saw that it was a No! No!. in my favorite shade of blue no less. I wanted to try it out immediately. Like many people I ignored the directions, plugged it in and went straight to work. I didn't see a change. I didn't feel that tingly sensation that everyone talked about in the commercials. I didn't smell that distinctive smell of burning hair. Well, to be honest that last one was a plus. I was a little upset, it didn't work.
Then I decided to be smart and read the directions. I was using it wrong. I was going the wrong direction and going much too fast. I went from my foot to my knee and slowed my pace. There was that warm sensation! There was the burning hair smell! I still didn't see any improvement after the first pass. With further reading I saw that it could take up to three passes for there to be a reduction in hair. This was not going to be the quick endeavor that the commercials made it out to be.
Did it Work?
After I finally read the entire manual and watched the directional DVD I learned that it could take three passes for each section to see a reduction in hair. For example it could take up to 45 minutes per leg. I was a little dismayed at how long it was going to take. The directions said that for the first 4-6 week you wold need to use the No! No! in each section three times each week. It said that after those first 4-6 weeks you would only need to use it once or twice a week to maintain hair free sections. The best part is you won't need to go over the area so many times. Only one quick session each week for hair free legs? Sign me up!
I was very diligent for the first 3 weeks. I really did see a difference. If I looked closely at my legs I could see t hat the hair would turn black on the first pass. It would get smaller on the second. And I wouldn't even be able to see if after the third. If you looked at my legs you wouldn't be able to tell that I hadn't shaved in 3 weeks. That's pretty impressive. To be fair though, I do have blonde hair so it is hard to see it anyway. But, if you felt my legs they felt a little stubbly. It almost felt like I had shaved the day before. So, a few prickles and a complete reduction in visible hair isn't too bad in my book.
I will be completely honest. I did get a little bad a using it after that first 3 weeks. Why? Well, I think it had something to do with the fact that I started at the end of spring. By the time the first 3 weeks was up it was consistently 80 or higher outside. I was spending more and more time at the beach. I was tired when I came home and didn't feel like spending an hour on my legs and bikini line. It was quicker to shave while I was in the shower. Not to mention my legs were instantly smooth.
What Did I Do Wrong?
I did a couple of things wrong. I very rarely used the little exfoliating pad after the No! No! sessions. The directions said to use the No! No! on leg legs, then to use the exfoliating pad, and then to use a lotion or moisturizer. Nine times out of ten I would use my No! No! when I got home from work, after the evening walk with my dog, before my shower. I would also seldom use the exfoliating pad. And I think I can count on one hand the number of times I used lotion. Why? I'm lazy. I also rarely use lotion after I shave, so I'm just not in that habit. I will say that my legs did not feel as prickly after I used the exfoliating pad and lotion.
I think I felt like using my loofa in the shower was enough of an exfoliant after the No! No!. I also think I felt that the moisturizing body wash that I used was enough to hydrate my skin. Apparently I was wrong on both accounts.

This Time Around
This year I am getting started earlier. I don't want to run into the same problems again. Kind of like starting a workout for a beach body, you don't want to start a month before your vacation. You will just get frustrated and will never see any results. I feel like the No! No! is the same thing. I'm setting aside time three nights each week to use my No! No! And most of all I am using the exfoliating pad and lotion. My hope is that my summer I will only need one thirty minute session once a week to keep my legs and bikini line smooth and hair free.
Update January 2016
I have only used my No!No! a few times this year. The wire on the large head broke after a few uses and I never looked into getting a new one. The smaller head, meant for the face and underarm areas, are just not big enough for my legs or bikini area and takes so much longer.
I do intend to as I would like to see if it is more cost/time effective to use this product than to shave every day (or every other day). But, I can tell that I am going to need motivation to use it...
Would I Recommend This Product?
Overall I was impressed with my No! No!. I think the big reason I didn't see the results that I was looking for was because I didn't follow all the directions and use the product as it was intended. I feel that this could be a great asset to people like me that hate shaving. However, that being said I don't think this product will be a good fit for some impatient or that wants/needs instant results. It just wasn't designed to work that way.
I think that if you are able to afford it and are willing to use it correctly that this product is worth a try. Once you get the hang of it, the No! No! is really quite easy to use. The burning hair smell isn't too strong and it doesn't linger for too long. Just don't go too slowly or you could risk burning yourself. Trust me, you will know when you have stayed in one place for too long.
I would have posted before and after pictures, or even a video of me using my No! No!, but you wouldn't be able to see anything. As I mentioned earlier I have blonde hair so you really can't see the hairs on my legs unless they are very long or if the light is at the right angle. My legs would like the same in the before and the after pictures. Oh well, that's life. Best of luck!
