Amethyst Gemstone is from the Quartz Family. Amethyst is a semi precious gemstone available in purple to bluish violet in color.This Stone is considered as a symbol of nobility, sincerity, security and peace of mind.This gemstone is ruled by Mars, Saturn and Jupiter. Amethyst stone is a popular substitute for Blue Sapphire which is the Gemstone of Saturn.

Amethyst derives its name from the Greek word "amethystos" which means "not drunken". Amethyst is the traditional birthstone of February. This stone is also suitable for those born on the Zodiac Signs Pisces, Sagittarius, Aries, Capricorn and Aquarius. This Stone is also the wedding anniversary gemstone for the 4th, 6th year and 17th year of marriage. Amethyst gemstone color is considered as a royal color and has adorned the British Crown Jewels. This stone is considered as the 'Stone of Spirituality'. Amethyst is also referred to as "Bishop's Stone" as it is worn by even the Bishops of Churches.
