One popular area to get tattooed is the ankle. Ankle tattoos are popular and offer enough canvas to portray a variety of different tattoos. Ankle tattoos are mainly worn by women because they show off their ankles more then men. Although this is true, men do sport ankle tattoos. There are a variety of different tattoo styles and symbols that can be portrayed on the ankles. Ankle tattoos can be inked on the ankle or tattoo designs may stretch up the bottom of the leg.

In this article, we are going to discuss ankle tattoos and ankle tattoo designs. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of ankle tattoo designs. In the end, we hope that you leave inspired and with ideas for your own ankle tattoo design.

There are a variety of different locations on your body that one may consider to get tattooed. One of those areas is the ankles. As you read above, we commonly see ankle tattoos wore by women although men also choose ankle tattoos. The ankles are a smaller area then other parts of the body. However, with your legs, there is actually a good chunk of real estate for a tattoo design. If you are considering an ankle tattoo, this article will help you with that decision. Even if you are not sure about ankle tattoos, there are some advantages to sporting ankle tattoo designs.

Just like any tattoo location on the body, there are advantages and disadvantages of getting ankle tattoos. One of the main concerns when it comes to ankle tattoos is the sensitivity of the ankles. The outer area and inner area of the ankle is very sensitive and it is going to be painful. The heel is less sensitive as well as the top of the foot. Ankle tattoos can include the top of the foot, sides of the ankles, toes, and the lower portion of your leg. Ankle tattoos can be designed to cover the entire areas listed. Some ankle tattoos can climb the leg between the knee and ankle.

Although the ankle is sensitive, there are many advantages when it comes to ankle tattoos. Although the ankle can gain or lose weight, it does less often then other parts of the body. It sees very little weight gain or weight loss, therefore, your tattoo will stay intact for years to come. Many people don't think about what their tattoo will look like decades down the road. It is something you should consider when getting your tattoo.

Another great advantage of having an ankle tattoo is the fact that it can be shown and covered when you want it to be. I know, you want to show that tattoo off as much as you can. I get that. It actually is a very good point. However, there will come a place and time when you are going to need to cover it. It could be work or some other type of professional outing. Ankle tattoos can easily be hidden or shown. You could wear flops, sandals, heels, or you can go barefoot to show off your tattoo. Many women prefer their ankle tattoo to be on the outside so it can be shown off without being blocked by their shoes, flops, or heels. The same can be said for men. This is one of the reasons that many ankle tattoo designs flow up the leg.

Ankle tattoos can be worn for a fashion statement in one sense or they may be worn for the symbolic purpose of the tattoo. As you may already know, nearly every tattoo symbol has a symbolic meaning behind it. It is one of the main reasons that men and women choose a specific tattoo, for symbolic purposes. People also choose to wear tattoos as a decorative or body art.

There are several different tattoo symbols that can be used for ankle tattoos. In all honesty, you can get any tattoo symbol tattooed that you want. The rosary is a beaded necklace with a cross emblem. Although both sexes where this tattoo, as an ankle tattoo, it is usually seen on more men then women. The rosary tattoo can represent faith, love, hope, prayers, and Christianity. In the tattoo world, the rosary tattoo can be considered to be a Christian tattoo symbol.

There are two different tattoo styles that are popular as ankle tattoos for men. These two styles are tribal art and Celtic art. Two popular ankle tattoos among men are the tribal dragon tattoo and the tribal sun tattoo, which are both done in tribal art. Another popular choice for men are star tattoos. Although there are various types of star tattoos, men usually choose the nautical star tattoo. In most cases, these are designed on the top of the ankle and run up the leg. These are just a few ideas to help you when considering such a tattoo.

There are some important things to remember before you choose to get your tattoo. Make sure you take the time to research your tattoo before you go to get inked. Thank you all for your comments. The ankle is a sensitive area. I always say, if you have to hide a tattoo, why get one. Have to show those puppies off!

I've been thinking about an ankle tattoo. I wear an ankle bracelet all the time, so maybe then I wouldn't have to if I had a tattoo on my ankle. It's a good place to have one, I think. I'm not a big fan of arm tattoos for women. Very cool pictures of tattoos.............thanks for this interesting hub.

The first thought I had when starting the read was how much my friends have told me their ankle tattoo process hurt. As you have referenced, its one of the sensative parts of the body.

Obviously it's an advantage that you can easily hide these tattoos if needed. But the disadvantage is they're not quite as visible to viewers, who have to stoop to admire them. Voting this Up and Beautiful.
