Birthday Gemstones Gift Ideas
What is Gemstones
A gemstone / birth stone is a collective term for all ornamental stones that possess attributes like beauty, rarity, durability. I like gemstones because they are so gorgeous, colorful, exquisite, and elegance. Each of the stone has its own meaning but it depends on whether you'd believe it or not. Me, myself just love the stone from its beauty.
Many years ago, people use gemstones for healing and spiritual purposes. They believe that the gems stored some power. Kings and Queens would have gemstones in their crowns to obtain their potency. Gems have fascinated mankind, some even believe that gems could avert evil and bring good luck. The gemstones also a perfect gift for our dear's birthday gift, or for our boss anniversary party. You may buy a gemstone ring or accessories for their birthday's gift for instance. My dad is so pleased with his cat's eye ring as his birthday present.
Type of Gemstones
There are three types of gemstones : Natural, Synthetic, and Simulant
Natural gemstones include minerals and organic materials such as amber, sapphires, coral, fossil, ivory, emeralds, rubies, cultured freshwater pearls and natural saltwater pearls. My country has produced one of the best natural gemstones product in the world like pearl in Sumbawa (West Nusa Tenggara-Indonesia).The pearl from this area is known as Dobo pearl and it come from the seashell called Pinctada maxima.
The US people tend to love pink pearls, European people love creme and silver pearls, the Middle Eastern and South American love creme and gold pearls. The price could be very expensive with or without flaw.
Synthetic gemstones have the same appearance, physical, and chemical composition, crystal structure as the natural material that they represent. But the price is not as higher as the natural one. The synthetic gemstones are produced as real diamonds. The synthetic gemstones are grown in the laboratory under expert controlled. The gems are grown from the natural seed.
Simulant - Artificially created gemstones, without the same appearance, physical and chemical properties like natural or synthetic gems. For example: a cubic zirconia
Simulant can be made up of any substance like glass.
We can ask the reputable jeweler or dealer if we'd like to buy the gemstones about the differences among them.

Indonesian Natural Gemstones
Most people don't know it but Indonesia produces some of the most beautiful opals in the world -- although still in very small quantities. The opals are all of volcanic origin and just about every type of opal exists in Indonesia.
Other very special Indonesian semi-precious stones include crysacola -- a beautiful turquoise-blue stone related to agate used for years in place of turquoise when good turquoise was expensive but now is more expensive than most turquoise. Natural crysoprase is a jade-coloured agate (Australia has lots of 'Australian jade' [Crysoprase], but it's all dyed). The rare red drusy (drusy comes in all colours, but red is very rare); bloodstone, amethystine (purple) agate; the beautiful flower stones, fossilised corals that really look like flowers; green grossular garnet similar to the material in South Africa is called "South African jade," and many more.
If you visit Indonesia and love to search for some gemstones, try to check Borneo (Kalimantan), Lampung (Sumatera), Maluku (Eastern Indonesia), and Sulawesi. These places sell and produce many gems include diamonds, South Sea pearls, opal, sapphire, amethyst and banded agates. But be carefull, there are also many of fake gems. You should bring local and trusted guide to search the gems.
I love to visit Jogjakarta in Central Java - Indonesia for silver hunt, because the silver jewelry shop often use precious and semi-precious stones combined with it.
