Do Blondes Really Have More Fun?

Updated on December 15, 2011

I am an artist, designer, photographer and writer. See more of my work on cmariearts.

I am the type of person that loves to change.

That means changing my hair color and everything else. I have been through every hair color in my life that you can imagine from black, red, pink, copper, brown with golden highlights... the list goes on. I am naturally a brunette. When I was a baby I had black hair then it turned blonde up to four where it changed to a chestnut brown color. I used henna on my hair for awhile (which is great for your hair ladies). It makes your hair thicker, shinier, fuller, and it even makes you grow hair or at least gives you the illusion that it's thicker. The thing with henna is that you can only really get two colors from it red or black. The red is gorgeous though. Another problem with it is if you bleach it after you used henna on it, it will turn green so watch out with that. You have to wait until it grows out or washes out (which usually takes 6 weeks to do) before you dye it again. You'll have to wait until it grows out if you've been dyeing your hair forever with henna.

So anyhow, being a brunette can be fun. It's sexy and you can feel dark and mysterious with it. Red hair can also be sexy. I got a lot of compliments on it from guys. Red hair is supposed to be a sign of sex so they say. Red is the color of passion. Guys also always say that you can either be a really good looking red head or a really ugly one. I liked it when I had it. I always got attention with it, but got tired of it after awhile.

I bleached my hair blonde for the first time when I was around 22 years old. I had a lot of fun with it. It made me try a on a whole new wardrobe. I really got into lighter colors like beige and light pink and white. Colors that would fit in well with my hair. I also got a lot of attention from men that I didn't get attention from before. They were more of the wholesome frat type of guys that loved that hair color. I was used to the darker haired guys liking me with my darker hair. It's funny how that works.

I did have a lot of fun being a blonde during that time. It does make you more bubbly or at least it made me more bubbly and happy. It could've been the fact though that it was a change and I am attracted to anything new and that changes. I am a total gemini in that way. So, recently I did change my hair color again to blonde and have noticed another change. I do like being a blonde better. It brings light to my face and for some reason I feel more feminine and pretty with blonde hair. It stands out more. People have said it made me more approachable too.

A lot of actresses and singers turn to blonde hair to get more attention like Britney Spears, Madonna, and Lady Gaga and it works for them. In American society the blonde is considered the all american beauty and brunettes are considered the more mysterious type. So, to answer the question do they have more fun? I don't know about everyone, but for me it works right now before I want to change again. The only problem is the roots growing out.

I don't think I would dye my hair. Sure blondes may have more fun, but brunettes get more respect. I'd rather land a great job over a few phone numbers.

Hi Ishwaryaa thank you for the sweet comment. I think you would look great with all typesof highlights in your hair depending on what you like best. (Not all at once though!) :)

An enjoyable read! Look like you have wonderful fun experimenting with different hair colors. I agree with one of the hubbers above that both blond and brunette suit you very well by the way of your profile pics. I am dark-haired and I am happy. I admire many women irrespective of their hair colors.

Thanks for SHARING. Interesting. Voted up.

@ Always thanks for reading and the comment! I think that who you are as a person depends on how much fun you have too.

@ Kitty Thank you for the compliment! I agree that the color you like depends on the person!

My hair has been every color under the sun and I have to say that I like being a brunette or a dark red head much more than being any other color...but, it truly depends on the person! Loved your hub, though. Very fun. Voted up and awesome!

I'm a blond and wouldn't have it any other way. I don't think a blond has anymore fun than a non-blond, It all depends on the person. Great topic..Thank's

CopperReflections burgundy red is a great color. I've had it before. I agree that hair color can change the way you feel about everything and that it can change your personality. Thank you for stopping by and reading and leaving an insightful comment.

Cara sometimes I guess men don't take blondes that seriously. It's funny how hair color can change a lot of how people see you. Glad you like your color. Thanks for reading and commenting. Always good to see you.

I remember when I went blond. It was a long time ago. I felt like I got more attention from guys but I also felt I wasn't taken seriously. Now my hair is dark brown and has been that way for years.

What I think is most important is that changing your hair color seems to change how you look at everything. You can't change a lot of things but hair, you can become someone else even just for a little while. Blondes do stand out but I think we are all fun people, right now my hair is a burgundy red, it changes how you look at yourself and everyone needs a change once in a while.

Funny thing, in my experience, which is long and varied, red heads are the most fun.

I was a teenager blonde after using "Sun- In" and working outside as a lifeguard. Boy - did I get a lot more male attention, but was it fun? I prefer being a quiet brunette . . . and the roots are a pain the a**. But Caroline . . . your new profile pic shows that both blonde and brunette suit you.

Pink hair was kinds fun! lol. You should definitely dye your hair blonde once in your life. It is fun. Everyone woman should like an experiment. Thanks for your comment!

I agree charmgirl. I really related to your post Caroline, because I myself have been every color...except for blonde! I found that having pink hair meant having the most fun, but I like my hair the copper color it is now. I do think that you are right about guys and redheads...not sure what it is but I noticed the same thing. With dark hair, people assumed I was "gothic" and unapproachable. And since the only way to get rid of black hair was to bleach it, I haven't done it since. Also, I think your skin tone plays a role. A woman I work with was once blonde and she has fair skin, but now she dyed her hair black. It looks beautiful, but it did seem to change the way I view her. That seems so weird...thanks for your made me think a little more about something as simple as hair dye! :)

I think blondes are more noticeable but I think women with any colour can have fun. It depends on the personality, not the hair.
