Braid In Braid HairStyles Tutorial - Unique 4 strand braids styles
In this tutorial, I will teach you how to create braid in braid hairstyles. In particular, this tutorial will show you how to use the unique 4 strand braids to match with your style.
After you have created this hand band, you have 4 options:
1) You can use the 4 strand braid to create a Peek-a-Boo Braid (Picture 1)
2) You can use the 4 strand braid to create a carousel braid (Picture 2)
3) You can use the braid as a headband (Picture 3)
4) You can just leave it hanging on the side. (Picture 4)
There is a large variety of options that you can do once you have finished with this braid. The best thing about this hairstyle is that is is relatively simple compared to the other braids. If you are out on a dinner and you suddenly decide that you would like to change your hair style, this braid allows you to do that easily.
If at any time during this tutorial that you find something is unclear. You can refer to the braid in braid 4 strand tutorial video where it will show you clear steps on how this hairstyle is done.
Brush your hair and gather it to one side then tie it with an elastic band. Then, grab a small chunk of hair from your ponytail and divide it into 3 equal sections.
Using these 3 sections, do a regular 3 strand braid down the length of your hair. At the end, use an elastic band to tie the braid off.
This step is pretty straight forward. Make sure you spend time to comb out any knots in your hair before you begin. This will ensure that the braiding will be easy and will allow you to separate the 3 sections easier.
I have added a video at the bottom of this hub for a 3 strand braid tutorial! This will help you get though this step if you do not know the 3 strand braid.
Move the braid aside and divide the rest of your braid into 3 equal sections. When you have 3 sections, bring the braid that you made in step 1 back and position the braid as the second strand.
Tip: It is very important that the braid is the second strand. This is because the position of this braid is important in determining the overall look of this braid.
Step 3A - Starting with the inner stand (the one that is closest to your face), place it underneath the strand next to it. Place the same strand over the braided strand. If this was done correctly, the 3rd strand should be the braid.
Step 3B - Using the outter strand, place it over the strand next to it. Place the same strand underneath the braid. Once you have done this, you will have noticed that the braid will have been moved back to it's original position which is the second one.
Rinse and repeat steps 3A and 3B all the way down the length of your hair.
Tip: If you are having trouble with this step, sit in front of a mirror while you are doing it.
When you are finished, use an elastic band to tie off your braid. You can also tug on the braid to give it extra volume.
For a Peek-a-boo Braid
Follow steps 1 through 3 with only half of your hair. Remember that since you have less hair to work with, you will need to tug on the hair more at the end to give it more volume. Once you finish this braid, you can bring the non-braided hair forward to create the peek-a-boo braid.
For a Carousel Braid
This is a combination of the Peek-a-boo Braid. Once you have created the Peek-a-boo braid, simply wrap the braid around the non-braided hair. Tie the end up with an elastic band to keep them from falling apart.
For a Head Band
This is also a combination of the Peek-a-boo Braid. Simply flip the peek-a-boo braid over your head and pin it with a bobby pin on the other side. Leave the non-braided hair down to create a more balanced look
This is the last step! Hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Go out and show off your newly created braid in braid!
