Western Belt Buckles

Updated on January 31, 2010

Cowboy style remains as strongly in fashion today as it did 100 years ago, and western belt buckles are no exception. Whether they are of the understated variety or whether they are the oversized belt buckles, western belt buckles are sure to turn heads.

These days, you don't have to visit the west in order to find some belt buckles that you like. While you used to have to travel all the way to Colorado or Texas to find an authentic belt buckle, you can today travel to one of the many websites that populate the internet. These websites are much safer than the old trails from 100 years ago, since you do not have to worry about crossing rivers or getting stampeded by buffalo!

When you hear of cowboy belt buckles, one of the first things that you do is think of the size. These belt buckles are BIG! Just like everything about the cowboy lifestyle, western belt buckles are larger than life, and very awe-inspiring.

In keeping with the theme of cowboy flair, many of the buckles that you will buy are made of illustrious metal. It is not hard to find western silver belt buckles online, and boy, do they look good! I promise you will be the best looking cowboy on the trail.

So let's look over our checklist for belt buckles that we think would look fashionable. Big? Check. Silver? Check. Hmm, it seems we are missing something. Know what it is? Rhinestone!

Rhinestone western belt buckles look great and are very fashionable. If you are looking for gift ideas, remember this: even a cowboy is a fan of glittering jewels.

Of course, it is not just cowboys that enjoy huge western belt buckles. Cowgirls can get in on the act too. Women's western belt buckles are trendy as well. Do you have a cowgirl in your life that you are trying to find a gift for? Look no further than buying her her own large buckle. Then you two will be the life of the hoedown. There is no reason to believe that you wouldn't.

You don't have to be in Texas or Oklahoma to find wholesale western belt buckles. There are many places online that specialize in selling buckles. This is good news if you are a cowboy in New York City, or Poland for that matter..

I've rambled on long enough about how wonderful big western belt buckles are, so I will list below some tips for buying buckles. Thanks for reading my hub!

Western Belt Buckle Buying Tips (Try saying that 3 times fast!)

  • Go big or go home: There is no such thing as too big when it comes to looking like a cowboy. Don't ask yourself, "Is this too big?" Ask yourself, "Is this big enough?"
  • Shiny is good: Everybody like shiny things, and cowpokes are no exception. Silver belt buckles, gold belt buckles, it's all good. Just make sure it shines.
  • Sparkly is also good: Rhinestones are your friend. Keep that in mind. The more the better.
  • Have fun!
