Cotton Camisoles For Men

Updated on October 16, 2009

I love camisoles and I know you men do too. If you didn't before you read this article, you will afterwards, because I'm beaming my thoughts directly into your head through your eyes. Like a super mouse villain, except with more lace.

Why love camisoles? Well, I've said it before and I will no doubt say it again, camisoles are close to the perfect piece of lingerie for men. Because of their long lines, the wearer feels the silky touch of the lingerie up and down his body. They're great for the women (or woman, if you happen to subscribe to monogamy) in your life too, because of the way they make your body a slippery, slidey surface. Who doesn't love a good slide?

Camisoles are available in a wide range of fabrics, from microfiber, to nylon, to satin and they are also available in a wide range of styles and colors. You'll never get bored when it comes to camisoles simply because there's always a new one waiting around the corner. Camisoles are the fish of the lingerie sea. Unlike bras and panties, which must both be functional, camisoles exist for the sole purpose of adorning the body in a flattering fashion and making the wearer feel sexy.

And of course, my most recent foray into camisole territory has been to outline and celebrate the humble cotton camisole. So easily written off by lovers of fine lingerie, the cotton camisole is perhaps the darkest horse of the lingerie world. Cheap, sexy and occasionally trimmed with a wide variety of lacy delights, cotton camisoles are an excellent addition to any man's lingerie collection.

Pictured at the top left hand side of the page is the 'Cotton Candy Queen Size Camisole + Capri Set, from Magic Silk, a company well known for its high quality lingerie. This item epitomizes the spirit of playful cotton lingerie, it is light, looks great and there is more than a little touch of feminine lace about the piece as well.

Betsey Johnson Intimates

This cotton stretch camisole from Betsey Johnson is absolutely darling, with little bow accents to accentuate the bust, and cut spaghetti straps. If you're looking for a light, feminine piece of lingerie that will fit your body like a glove, you need look no further.

Grenier Lace Trimmed Camisole

This is such a soft, sweet camisole I wonder at how any man could resist it. Light cotton flares out around the hips, whilst contrasting and very pretty white lace traces the deep neck line and under bust of the garment. Wearing this with the matching lace trimmed panties, you'll be the cutest man that ever walked the world wearing lingerie.

More on camisoles...

This hub, the Call of Camisoles details the range of camisoles available to the lingerie wearing man, for those of you looking for a camisole that fits you well, check out the comments, where some thoughtful readers have left their tips for finding camisoles that look and feel great on men.

I've also written about silk camisoles in the past, ah silk, the romantic fabric of Kings and Queens. I profile a few different camisoles made from silk in this article, so its a nice little piece for men looking to be inspired.

A good everyday camisole is Jockey's Ultimate Bamboo. It has wider straps instead of lingerie straps so you can wear it under many things without worrying as much about showing. I wear mine under slim Ts and mock turtles. Very slim fitting and stretchy. Picot (that's what those little loopy things are called isn't it?) trim on the straps and neckline. I bought mine at Macy's who claim it is exclusive to them.

Camisoles are my singlet of choice.

I have many in stretch lace but also have the softest ones as well.

The pink one at the top of this hub. Where is it from? I would like the top and bottom.

Yes camisoles are very nice and femm. I wear them all the time under golf shirts. A golf shirt is a little to clinge for wearing a bra, but camisoles do wonderfully well. My favorites are also the Jockey for Her line.

      Nice article, thanks Hope
