What Your Perfume Says About You
Whenever people tell me how my perfume smells good, that really makes me feel good, as well. Also, wearing perfume is one of those childhood memory things I love, and I still cannot help myself from believing that quality fragrances are of the past and that I must look into "long ago" to find them.
I'm not saying perfume is a must, but wearing perfume can enhance the way one feels. It boosts up positiveness and brings liveliness to our everyday routine. That to me is fairy-like...fairy-tale, and mystic. Now let's see which perfume personality you belong.
For some reason, I too have an affinity towards older fragrances. I think much of it has to do with my mother. The subtle and pleasant notes remind me of the vintage fragrances she used to wear. It also brings me back to my Charlie, the first “grown-up” perfume I ever owned and a Christmas present from her.
I used to wear Charlie as a teen. I tried wearing it again in my 30s and gave up, thinking of Gucci then Estee' Lauder's Knowing. Now I'm in my 40's and I still think of Gucci, it has that modern romantic delight yet so cheekily retro.
Fresh and Natural
Natural, fresh scents are probably the most appealing. Since our world today is facing environmental concerns of fumes, dust, and garbage, your yen for all things natural exudes passion for fresh and clean or green scents activity.
Fresh-smelling fragrances contain ingredients like organic flowers, fruits, and wild-harvested greens. It is happy, airy, sexy, confident or fresh as spring. Although scents like these can alter depending on body chemistry and often smell quite different from person to person, you are helping everyone think fresh, clean and green!
The Classic Romantic
Floral notes are timeless, feminine and romantic. It's the personality that brings out feelings, emotions and the sentimental side. Reserved women who enjoys solitude and tranquility tend to prefer this heavy sweetness. Classic romantic can even lead to dating and love.
One sportsman said his love story began with this personality, “When I first met my wife, I wasn’t that into her because she seemed quiet and reserved. But when I got a whiff of her exotic Gucci Envy scent, I did a 180 - and suddenly saw her sexy, daring side, which I loved.”
Romantic perfumes awake feelings of love and affection. Full of happiness and fairy imaginations, very enchanting that offer endless feelings of excitement. From the strongest fragrance to the most subtle, the one you'll wear simply will overshadow others and make them feel gorgeous with you.
Sweet and Tasty
Sweeter and candy-ish perfume scents bring innocence. This smell reminds us of our simple childhood days and the aroma of mom's baked vanilla-smelling goods, mouth-watering chocolate cookies, and crispy caramel popcorn. It's something with a sweet base that’s blended with other ingredients so inviting to smell and cuddle.
The simple sweet and tasty fragrance is often a combination of the sugary blend of fruit, flowers, and candies. Coffee and marshmallows exhibit an innocent, homely, young and sweet personality bringing back a playful day of friends, family, and fun. You'll find it in today's fruity notes enhanced by patchouli, vanilla, and rum. If you wear this scent, you are bringing the excitement of younger years, changing seasons and good times.
The Sexy Idealist
This fragrance is called the modern perfume personality. This fragrance offers a kick of spicy notes carrying both the sweet and happy-go-lucky attitude. It dabs zest in a common day. Most women who are impulsive and who enjoy the spontaneity of nature, activity, and change like fresh floral fragrances with notes of pineapple, peach, raspberry, and blackcurrant.
Florientals are potent and usually the best choice for cold evening or winter wear. Intoxicating and addictive that you are exuding a truly sexy, deep and sensual burst unlike any other. With fragrance as distinctive as this, there is nothing like brightening up every mood everywhere you go.
Setting trends is that which exudes self-assurance and are usually set by teenage girls willing to experiment, or women entering the stage of personal self-realization. Citrus notes have taken the place of "florientals." Examples of this perfume personality are the likes of Chypre, Chanel Quir de Russie , or Miss Dior-- imagine the woodsy mossy to citrus, sometimes with masculine notes such as the mixture of woods, moss, oak, and flowers which lean towards a fruity or leathery combination; usually exotic, slightly dry and not very sweet.
These notes are usually strong which many finds ideal for cooler evenings and warm outdoors. If you enjoy changing the way you smell to match your mood, an occasion, or anything you like then there is so much excitement to smell fruity today, musky when going outdoors and sweet romantic on the weekends!
Tips That Helps
- Pour Femme - is French which translates to "for women"
- Cologne does not necessarily mean for men. Eau de Cologne actually means the fragrance contains about 3 to 8% fragrant extracts and the rest is filler, like alcohol.
- Woman fragrances can be stronger as Eau de Parfum or lighter as Eau de Toilette.
- Layering scents means using the same notes for body wash, lotion and fragrance. This is usually done to make the scent last longer.
If you are like some women, you may also like using one as "signature scent." For Anne Hathaway, it was Chanel Chance, while Cameron Diaz' signature scent was Clean. If Diorissimo was Princess Diana's favorite, Dior Dune was for Princess Kate's. Here's a quiz to help you determine your perfume personality and your signature scent.
