DDD Bras: Best Triple D Bras and Where to Find Them

Updated on April 25, 2012

Okay, I'm coming out with it... my bra size is a DDD. That's right, a triple D! For years I remained in denial, I did all I could to stuff myself into a D cup because anything bigger just seemed... well, TOO big! After I had my twins, there was no denying it- I am not your regular D.

I learned how to measure my bra size and with great anticipation (and fear) I did my little calculation to determine how far down the alphabet the girls had gone. The results were, of course, the triple D. Now, I wasn't even sure what that meant. Did that mean I might as well be an E? Was there a quadruple D, for crying out loud?

But, the more pressing of all the issues was this: I couldn't ever even remember seeing this odd size in any bra department. Was I perhaps in for a bra shopping expedition tantamount to a day of Geocaching? Well, let me tell you what I found about this all elusive bra size.

DDD Bras: Do They Really Exist?

The good news is this- they most certainly do exist, the size isn't some crazy joke just to send you on a wild goose chase. The bad new is this- they're not carried as a standard size in a lot of mainstream stores. You can find them in certain department stores, don't get me wrong... But, you're more likely to see DD sizes than DDD.

The Importance of a Good Bra

If you've read any of my other articles, you'll know I'm somewhat bra obsessed. Strange? Maybe... But, having large breasts can be uncomfortable, frankly. And, the wrong ones can make you look saggy, pointy, bulky and just less attractive than you really are! I don't want that and I doubt you do either.

Plus, women like myself need proper support throughout the course of a day. I want to feel supported, tucked in and appropriate all day long. I don't want to worry if I need to run across the street.

Wearing bras that don't offer enough support can also be painful. The weight of your breasts can cause neck, back and even shoulder problems. Plus, the breast tissue itself can become sore without a proper bra. So, for all of these reasons, I've done and continue to do lots of research and shopping. So, enough of that, on with my list of the best DDD bras.

Best Everyday Bra

Goddess Women's Keira Soft Cup

Alright ladies, this is it! I'm telling you this bra is fantastic. I know because I own it, wear it practically every day, have recommended it countless times to other large breasted women and we all rant and rave about it. You can feel confident that the girls are supported all day long, no worrying when you have to go chasing after your dog unexpectedly. You will not be bouncing, you will feel completely taken care of.

It is comfortable, too... a luxury I was sure I was going to have to live without. The most surprising feature of this Goddess bra is the fact that it has no underwire. I pretty much thought I was stuck with that poking into my ribcage for the rest of my life! It does have side boning for added support, but I never notice it.

The cups are very soft, too. And flattering, I might add. This bra gives me a great, realistic shape and silhouette. The straps are adjustable and for crying out loud they actually stay put. I don't have to battle them slipping and sliding all day long. It's very freeing, truly.

I have been very impressed how well made this bra is, too. I've worn it into the ground and it hasn't stretched out or become frayed.

I like the way it makes me look in clothes, too.

Bali Satin Tracings Minimizer Bra

Best Minimizer Bra

If you are in need of a minimizer bra, you should check out the Bali's Satin Tracings. It's been my and many other women's go-to minimizer bra for a while now. I purchased another one recently and feel like they've made some subtle improvements, too. The bra straps seem to be better made and less likely to stretch out over time. The cups are very well constructed and will NOT stretch like some of the other minimizer bra cups.

The design is subtle enough that it won't show through clothing. It's actually a very attractive bra!

Best Front Closure Bra

Playtex Front Close With Flex Back, #4695B

There's nothing better than a great bra that's very affordable! This one is very reasonably priced. It's hard to find a front closing DDD bra at all, so it's nice that you don't have to pay a premium price. Over the years, I've found it's very difficult to find a good front closure bra for large breasted women. They just don't seem to work very well. Or, they are just ludicrously uncomfortable.

This one has no underwire and extra wide padded straps so you will feel comfortable all day. I know because I've been wearing this bra a lot lately. I have a rotator cuff injury and cannot for the life of me fasten a bra in the back. It has hook and eye closures in the front that are very easy to fasten. It has an adjustable criss cross back so you can really dial in the correct fit for you.

I like the lift it gives to the breasts, too. I will say it's not the best bra to wear with low cut shirts because of how high it sits. But, it's a great supportive bra.

Best Strapless Bra

I'd pretty much given up on finding a strapless bra that works for large breasted women. I'm sure you've been there, too. You feel like (or you actually ARE) falling out of the bra all day. By afternoon, the darn thing is halfway down to your belly button. But, this Fantasie bra will stay put, I promise... even with the weight of your breasts.

It's smooth, seamless, comfortable, supportive, has full coverage and is convertible. A convertible bra means it comes with straps so you can also turn it into a regular bra. The straps can be worn as traditional one, criss cross or halter, too. Since the cups fully cover your breasts, you don't have those unattractive breast tissue lumps peeking out at the top.

The key to this bra for the DDD woman is getting the right fit. It has slightly odd sizing, I must say. So, if you are a DDD, you should get a DD in this Fantasie bra. The cups tend to run a little bit big. You might even want to consider going down a band size as well. I did and was glad I did. It just runs big, period.

Best Fancy/Sexy Bra

Wacoal Women's Retro Chic Full Figure Bra

Too bad for us DDD girls, we aren't going to be able to find a Victoria's Secret bra... In fact, for some reason, finding a lacy attractive and supportive bra in a large size is way more difficult than one would imagine.

I finally bit the bullet and began my search for a special occasion bra and found this Wacoal bra. Now, Wacoal is an excellent brand. The company definitely caters to large breasted women, thank goodness! Anyway, I've ended up loving this bra. In fact, I didn't think I'd be wearing it around town much because I was convinced it wouldn't be comfortable or supportive. But, I was wrong. It is quite supportive and comfy, too.

One caveat: it's quite lacy and will show through clothing. You need to be wearing the right clothes to pull it off. But, it really offers fabulous shape without the ugly bulges. Perfect for a night out on the town with the significant other!

Thanks for the information! Depending on my weight, I am either a DD or a DDD... I tend to drop a cup size when I drop weight. I know what you mean about Victoria's Secret - why do they ignore us? They specifically sell underwear and they should go up to DDD. I am going to bookmark this hub and vote it up!

Marlo, yes it's a great bra PERIOD! Go for it. Many people recommend sleeping with a bra on. I used to do that when I was nursing my twins because I was convinced my breasts would migrate below my knees. But, I'm just not comfortable enough at night that way. I should probably start again though... sigh., you should check these out. I feel your pain! Thanks for the visit.

molometer, "shoulder boulder holder"! Have you copyrighted that or can I use it? Too funny. In case you grow moobs, you will be in business! I suppose you don't carry a murse, either? Just kidding. Thanks for coming by and making me laugh.

mahua, you're welcome and thank for coming by.

kikalina, some sizes are harder to find than others. DDD is one of them, too bad for me! Thanks for your visit.

    Hello Laura,

I know I am a guy, so what am I doing looking at Bra's. Well in my defense, I am not dead

I have extensive knowledge of the bra debacle that women have to deal with.

I am married to a lovely woman, and I have often gone with her, to find an over the shoulder boulder holder.

    But to no avail.

All the manufacturers lie when it comes to sizes, they are all different.

After countless, fruitless years of searching, she settled on the Queens Bra maker and went and got fitted properly. Expensive but built to last.

Now she is happy as a clam.

Great hub and very useful too.

I do not have moobs in case you were wondering lol

    Voted up and buttons pressed.

I am also a DDD. I have a hard time finding these size as well. If I do find them, they are ugly. Thanks for the hub.

Is is true if you wear your bra to bed every night and all of the time, ones breasts will be more perky when they are older? My friend in High School told me that when I was 15 and I believed her. Also, thanks for the tips on the best everyday bra..Goddess Women's Keira Soft Cup, but it is okay for not-so-large-breasted women? Thanks, voted USEFUL.
