Save, Save, Save

Having the basics included in your pre-existing wardrobe, you can mix and match to create new outfits without stepping into one retail store or spend any money. After you’ve done your wardrobe assessment, you can then update it for starters take advantage of “end of the season” sales. If you’re on a tight budget and hate going store to store to only find pieces you love but are out of your price range, then this is a great option.

Since retailers are trying to make room for next season’s inventory, you’ll find great name brand pieces to update your wardrobe at deep discounts. To avoid going from store to store, choose one that you really like and simply sign up to their mailing list to be notified when the store will have its sales. Also, each season has a specific month when end of season sales start. During the spring, sales start in March through August when clearance sales start. In the summer, sales start in July through the clearance sales that begin in August. In fall, sales run from September through October. Probably the prime time of year to really get bang for your buck is right after Thanksgiving continuing though the holiday season. The clearance sales will begin right after Christmas.

If you’re looking for a one-stop-shop and also save money, check out your local consignment shops or secondhand stores for name brand pieces to update your wardrobe. Another perk some of these stores offer their customers is a frequent shopping card for additional discounts. These types of stores also accept gently-used clothes that you no longer wear in exchange for cash, which you can spend on inexpensive pieces to add to your wardrobe.

To Keep In Mind

Some additional tips and tricks to keep your wardrobe current without leaving your house or opening your wallet include the following:

  1. Mix and match your basic pieces to create a whole new outfit
  2. Get creative with your jewelry. For example, you can take out your long necklaces and recreate a whole new accessory by doubling it up and tying a cute ribbon on the ends. It will also enhance your outfit.
  3. Alter your hand bag at your local repair shop. You can choose to, for example, have the straps or handle replaced at a minimal cost.
  4. Be budget wise by avoiding impulse buying. If you’re browsing the mall and find a trendy piece on sale, avoid an impulse buy since it won’t work for every season like classic pieces.

With these helpful ideas and fashion tricks, you can easily reinvent your wardrobe without wasting your time shopping at lots of stores or draining your bank account.
