Do Men Mind if Women Wear Weaves?

Updated on November 11, 2010

For many years, wearing a weave was considered taboo. Women went to great lengths (pun intended) to conceal the fact that they had hair extensions that complemented their already perfect locks.

Fortunately, that time has passed. It seems that the weave craze has spread like wildfire and is showing no signs of stopping. Everyone from your family doctor to the postal carrier, your stylist and your grandma is rocking a human hair weave. But here's the burning question on many women's minds: "Do men mind if women wear weaves?"

So I wanted to answer the question with a bit of research behind it. I did an very un-scientific, information poll of my Facebook friends with surprising results. Of the 26 men who responded to my question, 21 of them said they didn't mind if women wore weaves! (The other 5 are Martians) Most of them shared the same sentiments:

  • 18 said they didn't mind, as long as it looked natural
  • 6 said they preferred them because they like the long, flowing locks
  • 3 said they didn't mind, as long as they could run their hands through it
  • 20 of them said that as long as she looked great in it and was confident, they didn't mind

Ok, let me address their responses. First, wear a natural looking weave. There are many ways to achieve this. You must buy quality weaving hair that blends well and is the correct texture. Indian human hair extensions come in a variety of textures and colors, so choose carefully.

Secondly, if you want to get dramatic, long and flowing tresses, Indian human hair weaves come in a variety of lengths--from short to ultra long. Use your imagination and create the style that will turn heads.

Men want to be able to run their hands through your hair. Don't buy that cheap stuff! Indian hair extensions have a soft and delicate feel that is tangle-free and smooth. When your man runs his hands through your hair, it should not be clumped and matted. Choose quality Indian hair extensions for hair your man won't be able to get enough of.

If you're worried about the wefts when he runs his hands through your hair, consider getting a fusion hair weave that attaches the hair directly to your hair follicle. Or you can always go with a full lace wig that attaches directly to your scalp with no wefts, braids, tracks or glue.

So ladies, wear your weaves with pride! Your man will thank you for it.
