Dr Martens Air Wair With Bouncing Soles

Updated on February 8, 2013

To Paris, San Francisco and to my Wedding - always in Dr Martens

They are my favorite foot wear, I have lived in my boots since I was 15 years old.

I have even shook hands with "Madame le President" Chirac in 1998 at Musée d'Orsay opening in Paris, where one of my early installations was exhibited, wearing a pair of 9-eye black and shiny Dr. Martens.

I also want to tell you that for my wedding three years ago, I was wearing a special edition pair of Silver Dr. Martens with white satin laces! Before the wedding, when getting really stressed about the sartorial issues, my husband-to-be gave me the pair as a present. How could I have faced the most important day of my life without the pair of shoes I most love and rely upon.

With this I want to say that Dr. Martens are a real passe-partout! Real classic footwear for both men and the ladies. I must also say that I do adore high heels, but when it comes wearing them I often opt out to one of my many favourite pairs of my Doc's.

You can find almost any colour or pattern to fit any occasion. Another of my keenest memories was a walk up to the Haight Ashbury from the Commercial Center of San Francisco in my flower patterned DM's.

And to pair with any haute couture design, Yohji Yamamoto has recently collaborated with Dr Martens, designing a wonderful series for the old classic with total street creds!

I love these shoes. I got some for Christmas and everyone always comments on them.

I bought this shoe in London in 2009. Today the sole is crumbling, melting, for no reason.

This reminds me of the patent leather Doc Martins boots for which I have had a hankering. Happy to hear that you wear your Docs with suits. Great post!
