Dress in fashion - the hottest high heel shoes

Updated on May 24, 2011

The high heel

The high heel has been a fashion must have for women since the dance hall culture of the 1940's. But the true explosion came with the invention of the stiletto heel by Salvatore Ferragamo in the 1950's. Stiletto, meaning 'pillar' in Greek reinvented how women walked. The stiletto was made iconic by Christian Dior's 'New Look' and a range of infamous celebrities. Marilyn Monroe was a star born out of the stiletto; her incredible wiggle as she walked was down to the wearing of towering heels. The power of the high heel was realised!

Current shoe genius 'Jimmy Choo' has recently released his collection for 2012. To guide you in how to dress in fashion with the hottest heels this year, I have found affordable alternatives to the Jimmy Choo collection; look hot for half the price!

Leopard Print

Leopard print has been a huge trend in 2011 and seems set to continue in 2012. Shoes is the best way of wearing leopard print; keep the rest of your outfit plain and demure and you shoes can make the statement. I have suggested a few key styles here that will provide a shoe for all occasions. The platform is a must have shoe that is great for the shoe brave.

Lace is a trend that has been reinvented this season, with a huge selection of lace related products shown on the catwalks. The lace has been shown in all colours and styles, from antique to gothic. The lace trend has not stopped at clothing, but has also made its way to our footwear. The lace boots by jimmy choo for 2012 season show that it is still a trend to be seen in. Check out these lace heels that would be perfect for a glam night out at an affordable price.

Platform shoes became iconic in the 1960's, becoming popular with men as well as women. Platform shoes and boots were worn in bright colours and lurid materials. The platform has made a comeback due to it's comfort and ability to add precious inches. Platform now come in all shapes, colours and materials. Jimmy Choo has combined the platform with a perfect party accessory; glitter. Check out my suggestions for the perfect platform- dress in fashion!

 Court Stilettos

In homage to the original 1950's stiletto, almost identical styles are still created today and providing women with swagger and confidence. Designers now play with the colour and materials used, but the original shape remains almost identical. You cannot go wrong with a traditional court stiletto; perfect for power dressing at work or for evening chic. Jimmy Choo's 2012 collection includes this classic black style, but here are a few of my suggestions.
