Tired of Frizzy, Fly-away Hair? Here Are 5 Effective Tips to Help You Deal with It.

Are you one of those tortured souls who wake up to bird nest-like hair every morning? Do you spend three-fourths of your getting-ready time on trying to tame your wild, unruly tresses? Do you shy away from exposing your locks to the wind, as you fear they might respond by standing up on end, like they’ve been treated to a gust of static? Frizzy hair can be a real problem to deal with, especially when you have to look professional and neat for a business meeting or elegant and beautiful for a special event.

Here are a couple to tried-and-tested steps to help you tame frizzy hair. By following these simple tips, you’ll be able to control the frizz and enjoy softer, smoother hair.

Be brush smart!

Pay attention to the brush you use, the time you brush your hair and the manner in which you brush it. For starters, use ‘Boar-bristle’ brushes or ‘vent’ brushes. These brushes have rubberized tips and hence, do not pull or damage your hair. Also, do not brush your hair very often during the day as this will cause your hair to fracture and fall. When your hair is wet, use a comb instead of a brush to untangle and smoothen it.

Easy on the shampoo!

Washing your hair more than once every day will make it dry, and therefore, frizzy. Also opt for a shampoo that is gentle and does not contain harsh cleaning agents. Conditioner, applied!

This conditioner needs to be applied before going to bed and is washed off the next morning. A quick-fix tip to deal with frizzy hair is to dilute some protein-rich conditioner with water and apply it to the tips of your hair. This will help manage your hair, making you look presentable.

Oil, oil away!

Hot-oil treatments infuse hair with shine and moisture. Here is a hot-oil treatment you can make at home:

Take 1 tbsp of jojoba, avocado or olive oil and mix in 3 drops of chamomile oil. You can also opt for carrot seed oil for extra moisturizing. Now heat the mixture of oils in a bowl. Take special care to see that the oil gets warmed and not over-heated. You can do this by placing the bowl of oil in a larger bowl filled with hot water. For additional nourishment, add in herbs like rosemary, parsley and black tea. Now, massage the hot oil into your scalp and cover your head with a shower cap or plastic wrap. Leave the oil in for at least 30 minutes before washing it off.

Your new best friend – Hair serum!

Hair serum is very effective in taming frizz. Apply it through your hair when your hair is wet. Use your fingers to work the serum into your hair, moving from root to tip. Hair serum relaxes hair instantly, giving it a smooth, velvety texture.
