To better understand the meanings behind elephant tattoos, all we have to do is watch the elephant in its natural environment. The elephant is very large, some growing in access of 4 tons. This alone represents incredible strength. Although they are large and strong, upon observation, we see that elephants are gentle giants. They display patience and gentleness. All of these can be represented by the elephant tattoo.

One interesting fact about the elephant that displays their wisdom is their behavior in death. Elephants are known to throw dirt, plants, and limbs on elephants that have died. As you can imagine, this is quite a spectacle to see. Elephants are also known to pick up bones from other elephants that have passed away. Elephants have been witnessed passing these bones among the family. You can actually compare this to some type of death ritual. Elephants are truly intelligent animals.

Before you choose to get your elephant tattoo or any tattoo, there are some important things that you need to remember. Make sure that you take the time to research your tattoo. You want to make sure that you completely understand what your tattoo represents and stands for. You don't want to get inked and find out later that your tattoo represents something different from what you first though. Don't rush to get inked! If you have a second thought about a tattoo, wait it out. Men and women that get tattooed on an impulse usually have regrets about their tattoo later on down the road. You don't want to make this same mistake. Wait until you are completely sure on your choice. If you believe that the elephant tattoo is not for you or you want to view more animal tattoos, please feel free to follow the links below. As always, thanks for your visit!

I love these, though it looks like because these are large animals, you generally need a large amount of skin for the tattoo. Voting this Up and Beautiful.

A beautiful hub as always LW - and to choose the elephant, you couldn't do much better. I love the symbolism as well, combining such attributes as power, strength but also gentleness and patience and so on. These animals are not only highly intelligent, but have an understanding of life and death that is truly spiritual.

These beautiful tatoos show not only the magnificence of these beautiful animals, but the duality that is in all of us. But more than that, you put all this over in such a wonderful and fascinating way, that your hubs hook and fascinate from the start.

My friend and wonderful writer keep producing these awesome hubs!!

these hubs are always amazing. I am continually blown away by the different images that people put on their bodies (blown away both in a good and sometimes in a bad way).
