Updated on March 25, 2012
Source

Many hairstyles come and go, but there are some that completely stand the test of time. From long to short not only are they sexy but they are sleek. When choosing a hairstyle it is good to pick a style that fits your face Whether its a ponytail or wavy curls, chose a style that draws attention to your beauty and not away from your face.

Facial shapes

There are four types of facial shapes. Round, Oval, Square and Heart-shaped. Timeless hairstyles tend to look good on any type of shaped face. Whether you wear it in 2012 or 2042, it will still look good thirty years from now. Choose a style that you will feel comfortable with and is easy to maintain.

Medium Hairstyles

One of the most popular and timeless hairstyles is the 'medium hair style'. Everywhere we go, this adorable cut is framing every type of face. Some where it a little shorter others a little longer; but the 'Bob' has been around for a long time. Finding the right cut can be difficult. It takes a certain angle or layer to make a medium hair style look perfect.

Styling and using the proper hair care products is important with the medium hair style. Proper cut tends to still look nice over time. Not only is it glamorous, but classy, sexy and chic.

Medium Length Bouncy Curls

Naturally curler hair can be harsh with African-American women. The hair does not always give way to bounce. There are African-American women who strive to have bouncy hair. With determination it can be accomplished with the heat from the hairdryer technique, creating beautifully soft curls and a timeless classic. Glamorous, sexy and chic there is plenty of bounce in this hairstyle.

Medium to Long Length Up-Do

Medium length to long this up-do is elegant, traditional and gorgeous when going to a special event and worn with feminine jewelry. Rolled in the back and parted at the side. It has plenty of waves when finished, giving a very romantic and aristocratic look. It frames any face beautifully. Professional hair products will give it that non-fly away effect. Updo's are always recommend and have with stood the time. A classic that never goes out of style.

Long Layered Hair Style

Long-layered hairstyles never seem to go out of style. Whether they are worn with curls, straight or wavy this glamorous classic is a breathtaking style that is beautiful year after year. Beginning at the chin, the layers flow from top to bottom. Since the style is a little longer and more layered, it requires additional work. Because of the type of style, frequent trims are a must to keep the hair looking stylish and classic.

Long Length Curly Wave Hairstyle

If you have long hair, straight, slightly curled or a wavy hair style, it is quite eye catching and mysterious. Men tend to love women with long hair. Soft waves can be created with Hot curlers or a curling iron. If your hair has natural high and low lights or if they have been fashionably placed by your hairstylist. When you place waves or curls into your hair, it makes the low and highlights more stunning.

Whatever style you create. It is always recommended to add some type of shine serum to your long tresses, to make them extra shiny. Spritz a little into the palm of your hand and roll through your hair. Placing to much serum into the hair, can make it look greasy or flat.

Short hair, medium length hair or long hair. All five of these hairstyles are timeless classics. Always trendy, glamorous and elegant. So whether you are choosing a low maintenance hair style or a style that is a little more time consuming. Take the time to find interview your hairstylist and make certain they are providing the right style for you. Ask questions and take notes, you want to be happy with the hairstyle you will be wearing.

Choose hair-products wisely. No alcohol based products. Stay away from .99 cent shampoos, if they can clean grease off of your driveway, think about what it is doing to your hair. It is always best if you purchase products that are healthy for your hair. Ask your hairstylist what they would recommend and stick with the plan. Not only will your hair thank you for it; but you will be appreciative in the end.

Thanks a lot for this one....I have often worried about looking at my photo years to come and wishing I did something timeless with my hair and clothes.

Not as easy as it used to be! Age does things to hair, too! Fortunately, mine is at least much more thick than most so I see a couple here similar (but much better) that I use. Usually compliments from younger people, and I frankly don't give a hang about what the "old folks" like me think! If they're my kinda people, they'll let me if it's wrong! However, so glad you pub;d this because I need a cut (different) or something, and you have two that would blend together beautifully. Just gotta stay w/my non-scissor-happy stylist who sees me rarely, but loves me!

Oh, for my younger days! I was unusually blessed with one of those faces that could carry any hairstyle, and I usually kept it long. Even older, I loved French braids, fishtails, piled on top and curls. Alas, facial features changes with age, and hairstyles must change to flatter--but I don't think it has to be short. This is great! Love these, and can pull some off! So glad you wrote!

The styles are beautiful. I gave up on sleek styles as my hair is very curly, used to spend hours and money trying to make one last. Now I either let my hair curl naturally or use rollers for bouncy curls. I do love straight hair though. :)

      Great illustrations!

I suggest that it is helpful to chose a hairstyle that suits your hair. I spent many hours of my youth trying to copy photos in magazines. All a waste of time because my hair is baby-fine. At long last I saw the light and asked a good hairdresser for advice. Now I have a short layered style that looks good with little effort.

Loved this hub, because I have been wondering what to do with my hair. Still going to think about it, but I liked the ideas about shape of face, and styles that are timeless ( since my age won't be timeless)
