Flapper Hats

Flapper hats make a great start to a roaring twenties Halloween costume. The 1920s era of the Flapper girl is typified by these dainty cloche style hats. Flapper clothing was very fashionable and was the new clothing style for the modern woman who was striding forward out of the very constrictive Edwardian fashions of the early part of the twentieth century.

The flapper dress style was typified by short skirts or pants and also for many women a  close cut short hairstyle. The nineteen twenties was a period of great change for women and their style of clothes was also changing drastically away from the old fashioned styles. Women were rapidly moving onward to face all the challenges and opportunities in both careers and sports which had been denied to them in earlier times.

Typically coats were made in a wrap around style which often fastened on one side. Flapper hats worn in the twenties were mostly dainty close fitting styles, often of the cloche type. The cloche was actually the most popular style of hat. This kind of hat was mostly worn by women who had a short hair style since it fitted in well with the new fashion of short hair. Flapper hats are a great beginning to a Halloween costume.

Cloche style flapper hats were very dainty and  quite elegant when compared to the big stodgy hats of earlier years. These dainty close fitted cloche  hats are quite typical of the nineteen twenties fashions and were slim, elegant and very much in keeping with the fashions of this era. These twenties flapper hats are perfect for Halloween costumes.

Mens clothing was also subject to considerable changes in the roaring twenties. Sports type clothes became very popular particularly in the popularity of tweed jackets, often belted at the waist and commonly worn with "nickers" or half length pants which reached just below the knee,  and were worn with long woollen stockings. These pants continued to be popular right into the 1950s and even later. Golfers particularly sported this fashion.Typical mens hats were straw boaters or sometimes very wide brimmed felt hats. Flapper hats and these mens styles of clothing are perfect for Halloween costumes.

The roaring twenties was a period of great change in lifestyle for women. they strode out from the constrictions of the Edwardian period to embrace life fully and partake in many types of work and sports which they had not previously been permitted to do.
