Create A Great DIY Home Spa Day Practically For Free!

It takes time and money to be beautiful, these days and very often we find ourselves with neither! Luckily, we can still turn to some homespun ideas from days gone by to have beautiful skin and hair and feel great. In this article, I want to share a way to give yourself a luxurious spa day at home using easy to get ingredients that you may already have in your kitchen.

Assemble All Your Home Spa Day Ingredients First

You can begin by preparing all of your beauty treatments in advance so that you can simply move from one to the other easily with no muss or fuss. You will finish up by taking a great shower to rinse off all of your homemade beauty treatments and rejuvenate yourself for whatever your day or evening has in store for you. Read on to learn how you can give yourself a free and easy spa day at home!

Give Your Hair A Luxurious Home Made Beauty Treatment

Make a beauty mask for your hair that will leave it deeply moisturized, smooth and silky. Just combine a couple of tablespoons of olive oil, a tablespoon of mayonnaise, a quarter of an avocado and an egg yolk with a small amount of your favorite hair conditioner. Be sure everything is at slightly warmer than room temperature when you mix it up. Brush your hair well and apply the mixture to your hair. Cover your hair with a plastic shower cap or with plastic wrap. Leave the mixture on your hair for 15 to 20 minutes then wash it out as usual.

Next Apply A Nourishing Home Made Facial Mask

After you have applied your hair mask, give yourself a great facial with ingredients you probably have on hand in your kitchen. Just combine a mashed banana, a couple of tablespoons each of cream, flour and honey in a small bowl and mash it all together well. You can add a few drops of water if you need a smoother consistency. Apply this soothing mask to your face to soften your skin and reduce any redness or irritation. Leave it on for 10 or 15 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water followed by cool water.

Rest, Relax & Get Rid Of Eye Bags

If you are bothered by bags under your eyes, there are quite a few things you can use to solve the problem. Chilled slices of cucumber or potato make a good treatment! Cucumber is soothing and potato has natural astringent qualities. Both feel great and leave the skin around your eyes tightened and refreshed. Alternately, used, chilled teabags work well, or you can keep a pitcher of green tea in your fridge and just dampen a couple of cotton balls with it for a cool, refreshing beauty treatment. The antioxidants and caffeine in the tea will shrink the swelling and ease the inflammation around your eyes. Whatever you choose, lay the veggie slices, teabags or cotton balls over your closed eyes and rest for ten or fifteen minutes. Set a timer so that you can relax completely.

Rejuvenate In The Shower With This Easy All-Over Scrub

When the time is up, step into the shower and give your body a great all-over scrub treatment with an all-natural, home-made scrub. Combine a half cup of gently warmed coconut oil, half a cup of brown sugar and the juice of half a lemon. Stir this up well before you begin your beauty treatments and keep it in a warm place while you are applying your other homemade beauty treatments and relaxing. Once all that is done, take a rejuvenating shower and give yourself a good scrubbing with this nourishing, exfoliating mix.

Chill Out!

If you can finish up your shower by turning the water to cool or cold and rinsing thoroughly, you will feel refreshed, invigorated and rejuvenated all over. The cool water will tighten your pores and close your hair follicles leaving your skin glowing and your hair shiny. Follow up your shower by splashing witch hazel on your face and moisturizing with aloe vera gel. Add a drop or two of almond oil if you need a little more moisture. Give yourself an all-over body massage with almond oil.

Take A Little More Me Time!

For the perfect home made spa day, it’s best if you can just put on a fresh terry cloth robe and relax with a good book or some quiet music for a while. If it’s a pretty day and you have a good place to sit outside and let your hair dry in the sun, do so! You’ll feel like a new woman!
