Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power - The truth behind the hype.

Updated on July 17, 2015

Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power

I'm sure you have heard the hype and seen the commercials, Gillette is at it again with a brand new razor! Now, the question is whether or not this is a razor that can live up to it's hype.

If you have seen their recent commercials you can see that Gillette's marketing department is hard at work. They are doing their best to make this new razor seem exiting. They claim that it is the smoothest and closest shave ever; from the looks on the men in the commercials it is one amazing razor.

What makes it so special?

People are getting awfully exited about this razor and there is a reason for that. On this small little device there are many new features that have not been done before with razors.

One of the most talked about features of this razor is that it features five super-thin blades. Now, according research these blades will bring you an even closer shave than ever before. Each blade is like an additional stroke with the razor. That means that one stroke with this razor is like five strokes with any single bladed razor.

Haven't you ever wondered how nice of a shave you would get if your razor guided your whiskers into the blades? Me neither, but Gillette did! There is now a small fine comb in front of the blades on the razor to give you an even closer shave.

Now, lets not forget that this razor is powered. It takes a single battery in the handle. When you press the power button it lights up with a blue glow and begins to emit a low humming noise. The razor sends out micro vibrations to stimulate your hair and skin to provide a smoother shave. The vibrations cause the hairs to stand up more so you can get a better shave. I imediately noticed a difference when using the vibrations, the amount of tugging and pulling was drastically reduced resulting in a much smoother shaving experience.

The Experience

The experience of shaving with this razor is very unique. The razor mixed with an electric approach gives it a different feel. The soft hum that is emitted from the razor and a light on the shaft let you know that it is on.

The vibrations in the blades give the razor an extremely smooth and quite advanced feel. While at the same time the moisturizing strip right above the blades leaves your skin feeling refreshed.

You don't have to make as many passes with this razor making shaving easier. Less swipes with the razor means a faster and better feeling shave. Now, don't let this make you think that it doesn't give you a close shave because this blade gives you a super close shave.

The Verdict

I must say that I was quite exited to try out this razor. All the new features promised me an interesting experience if nothing else. I tore open the packaging and slapped on some shaving cream.

I could feel the micro vibrations the second I touched the razor to my face. The razor glided smoothly down my face with the vibrations preventing any tugging and pulling. It was like I wasn't even shaving.

Problem areas where I would frequently cut myself while shaving were suddenly easy to shave. The head of the razor easily swivels around the curves and edges of my face.

I would have to say that I definitely loved this razor and do not regret buying it all. It was one of the smoothest and quickest shaves I've even had. I didn't even nick myself with the blades once which is a miracle for me.

I would recommend using Gillette's Fusion Gel shaving cream with the razor as well as applying Nivea's Post-Shave Balm after you shave.

Love this razor. Me and my boyfriend tried it together and we were floored at how smooth it made our skin. Hats off to Gillette once again.
