I LOVE Silk Scarves and Pashminas - Summer and Winter Fashion Bests
Scarves are and always have been and always will be fashionable. Whether it is the classic Grace Kelly scarf covering the entire head or the modern day scarf around the neck. Scarves add color and texture to any outfit. Grace Kelly seemed to either have a scarf at her graceful neck (sorry for the pun), over her head and she was even photographed with a Hermes scarf used as a sling.
One travel book I was reading mandated that you always pack three types of scarves, the large square scarf great for windy days protecting your head, a long oblong scarf for adding interest and fashion flair to your travel wardrobe and a bandanna sized scarf simply for multi-purpose use. Sadly, whenever I pack, rarely do I even have a scarf on the list. It is not even on the radar. I thought those where great tips because scarves pack so readily. The only item, I would add is to pack your scarves on your carry on baggage. If you are like me, you have an investment in both time and money not to mention an emotional attachment to your scarves.
Journey with me as we explore the best of the best scarves available for purchase online but first see the best of the best of Grace Kelly's scarves and read about a new line of accessories that will include scarves - from Judy Crowell, a favorite shopping television host. Also, check out Kelly Rippa's and Judy Crowell's fashionable loosely draped scarves that bring life to your outfit and color and texture near your face.

Pashminas are for Celebrities and Royals
Think a pashmina is just a passing trend? Prefer a classic scarf? Think again. From celebrities - even A list men celebrities such as Brad Pitt to royals such as Kate Middleton, pashminas are a huge hit.
The first princess that we adored with scarves was perhaps Princess Grace. Her beauty I thought would never be surpassed and then there is Princess Charlotte, Princess Grace's granddaughter as seen to the right wearing a bright pink pashmina.
What I Love About Pashminas
Pashminas are a great way to add color quickly and easily. The bright pink is one of my favorite colors and when I was younger, I even had a ski coat in that bright pink color!
Also, for the vertically challenged such as myself at 5' 2", the vertical lines that pashminas add serve to add a visual illusion of height.
Are pashminas better than scarves? They are definitely trending higher because they are more affordable, more casual, more versatile than the expensive silk scarves of the days gone past.
As a woman over 40 there is another reason why I love pashminas - it covers that difficult to camouflage neckline. My late husband would say you can always tell a woman's age by looking at their hands and their neck. We woman can work with anything but a scarf or a pashmina does wonders on adding color to our face, elongating our physical presence and hiding the telltale signs of aging.

How to Wear a Pashmina Scarf
5 Ways to Tie a Scarf
Do you wear scarves throughout the year?
Are you planning on adding to your fashion wardrobe with a new scarf?
Scarves Offer Texture and Color
No other accessory offers the richness of a scarf. Jewelry, gloves, even shoes don't make the same statement that scarves do. While gloves have gone out of fashion favor (except for Madonna's gloves), the resurgence of the scarf and the introduction of the pashmina gives us more options throughout the year. You see, scarves are no longer just for winter. My purple pashmina I wear throughout the year - from the coldest winter days where I need a visual reminder of spring through to the spring. And while I have always had summer scarves, I will be sure to add to my summer scarf collection this spring. Share with us your fashion plans. What works best for you?
