What Is Voile - Swiss Voile Lace

Voile is a soft, sheer fabric, usually made of 100% cotton or cotton blends including linen, silk, or polyester. Voile fabric is used in dress-making. Voile is very similar to chiffon, which is also used in dress-making. Voile tends to be semi-transparent in look, is a high quality fabric, and drapes well.

One product of the voile fabric is the popular lace fabric known as Voile Lace. Voile Lace fabric is very popular among Africans, especially Nigerians and Ghanaians. A particular brand, Swiss Voile Lace, is a high quality lace material that is sourced from Swiss, Austria and some other parts of the world.

  • Men's agbada (suit),

The fiber content of voile lace is usually 100% cotton, or a mix of cotton and rayon, or silk.

The Making Of Voile Lace

Most voile lace are made in overlapping layers of the base fabric, which is usually made of a light-weight 100% cotton. The overlapping are usually layers of embroideries of different designs, cutouts, and attachments.

These designs can be made of one to several colors of yarns. Sometimes voile lace will have glued-on rhinestones, sewn-on sequins, and other embellishments to add sparkles.

Other Variation of Voile Lace

Swiss Voile Lace is very popular among Africans. There is also a competing brand, the French Voile Lace. The difference it the cut, and quality. Both of this brands are produced in the following variations: Organza Voile Lace, Sequin Voile Lace, and Hand-cut Voile Lace.

The different variations are classified by their cut, designs, and embellishments. The more complex designs with the most embellishments are highly priced.

Thank you for sharing this information! There is not enough literature on African clothing and a lot of people are interested in it. It's also difficult to find good lace material. Voting up and sharing!
