Homemade Carrot and Mango Butter Face Cleanser
Old Fashioned With a Twist ~
Before you start to think Suzie is losing the plot asking us to go dig up our gorgeous carrots and somehow put them with mango on our faces, fear not your carrots are safe for the meantime.
This recipe was inspired from the recent popularity of a whipped body butter recipe I did which indicated that the butter idea was a hit with readers.
With a twist of modernism, I have endeavored to keep a bit of nostalgia to the old fashioned cleansing cream idea and kick it up a notch with bigger and better ingredients, all designed to melt away grime, pollution and makeup but without harsh chemicals, toxins and fragrance.

Butter Cleansing Cream ~
If you look for or currently use organic skin care brands you will notice they come with a high price tag attached. Just as organic foods will cost that bit extra so too will beauty products over the counter. By deciding to make your own cleanser using organic ingredients will save you so much money and be more beneficial to your skin. No special equipment is needed for making this or the majority of homemade products so you can easily make this at home.
Butter cleansers are far more effective for all skin types, including those with oilier skins who probably have been thinking “Are you for real? You are asking me to use an oily cleanser on my oily skin??”
Fear not friends, I have a slightly oily skin and have always been of that mindset until I started experimenting and taking a chance on recipes. I always preferred lightweight lotions rather than heavy creams.
Believe me when I say this cleanser with mango butter and carrot seed oil is a dream to use and leaves my skin soft, supple, clean and removes all types of makeup from foundation to eye makeup.
It may strip the skin of all the pore clogging culprits but it does not strip the skin of natural oils (sebum) that many commercial products do.

Homemade Skin Care ~
The ingredients in this recipe are all wonderfully versatile and I selected them for that very reason making them cost effective choices. All or most of them may be used in many of my recipes such as
My aim is to make consumers more aware of the true benefits and versatility of natural, everyday ingredients we have in our cupboards, fridges and gardens that are often used in beauty brands anyway but in a more processed way.
By showing how easy making your own cosmetics is, and that they are something all the family can benefit from be it a shaving cream for you and your other half or teenage son, sunscreen for all the family, body wash or even a men’s Eau de Cologne, there is something for everyone at a fraction of the cost.
This butter cleanser not only is good for the face but you can utilize it for the feet and hands, a 3 in 1 product!
After your exfoliating foot scrub or foot soak you can work this butter into your feet in place of your foot cream or massage oil. For the hands, use it for a change in place of your hand cream after an invigorating lemon and lime Hand Scrub. Great for all gardeners after a busy day outdoors!

4 tsp Jojoba Oil
2 tsp Carrot Seed Oil

4 oz Glass Jar with Lid
For Cleanser Application:

- Place all the ingredients into the small bowl and place over your small saucepan of boiling water to melt. This will usually take less than 5 minutes.
- When fully melted, remove from heat and pour into your clean and sterilized glass jar.
- Allow to fully cool before screwing on the lid.
- Your butter cleanser is now ready and you may store this in a dark cool cupboard up to 6 months and may be used once or twice a day.
- Using a small spatula or spoon scoop a small amount of butter cleanser into the palm of your hand.
- Apply all over the face and neck in small circular movements.
- With a damp warm muslin cloth sweep over your face remove the cleanser.
- Rinse in warm water in- between as you are removing makeup in particular.
- The muslin cloth is slightly exfoliating too so gently removes the dead skin cells along with the cleanser and grime, leaving the skin silky soft.
- When all the cleanser has been removed, sweep over the face with your homemade face toner by applying it to dampened cotton wool.
- Follow with your anti-aging facial serum and face moisturizer.

Tips and Suggestions ~
Design your own funky labels and container designs by using stick on bling, beads, ribbon, string, bows, buttons or anything you can think of that you may have at home.
If you are unsure about any new ingredient or have very sensitive skin, always do a quick patch test with the product on the inside of the arm and leave for at least 8-24 hours.
Muslin cloths are a new find for me which I love but if you have cotton face cloth this will do fine.
