Oily skin may result due to a variety of factors including hormonal balance and poor diet. But some types of oily skin are actually dehydrated and dry beneath the skin's surface. This means that the skin which is dry underneath may be compensating for lack of moisture by secreting high amounts of sebum. This leads to skin appearing as 'oily' on the surface when underneath, it is dry and withering. These three homemade face masks used below will nourish and feed your skin, hydrating it to combat the dryness beneath the skin surface which is causing too much sebum excretion. Using kitchen ingredients makes these face masks totally natural and effective for oily skin.

1. Hydrating Cucumber Yogurt Oatmeal Face Mask

This hydrating mask is great for oily skin as it pulls out excess oils, refreshens the skin layer and rebalances the skin through the yogurt.

Cucumber yogurt and honey all nourish and hydrate skin. Skin that is dehydrated and dry beneath the surface must be replenished with enough moisture to prevent the sebaceous glands from producing too much sebum to compensate for the lack of moisture. Cucumber consists of 95 per cent water enabling it to hydrate skin cells and preseve moisture in them. Yogurt will tighten large pores that facilitate large amounts of sebum to be secreted.
