How to Properly Trim Your Nose and Eyebrow Hair

Updated on May 22, 2013
This is not a good look for you!
This is not a good look for you!

I will be blunt here – no women find nose or ear hair attractive, and we are not terribly impressed with bushy eyebrows either.I speak from personal experience it, because my husband has particularly hairy ears, and if not attended to, his eyebrows will soon make him look like a Klingon from a Star Trek movie.

So – the best way to deal with it is to buy yourself a facial trimmer, and there is a staggering variety to choose from. In this article I'm going to discuss what I consider to be the best of the various types available, and I think you're going to see the surprised at my all-time favorite which – does not run on electricity.

There is a wide variety of products available, but if you buy one of these – you won't go wrong!

Gone are the days, when a man could just throw on some deodorant and immediately be ready to rock 'n roll. With the advancing technology and ability to properly groom, there is no reason not to have groomed your eyebrows or ear and nose hair, and it doesn't cost very much either. In fact, the most expensive product on this list is less than $35.

So – gentlemen – let's get our acts together okay?

Wahl 5546-200 Ear, Nose and Brow 2-in-1 Deluxe Lighted Trimmer, Black/silver

This first trimmer is from one of my favorite manufacturers – WAHL,, who make a fantastic range of hair clippers and trimmers, including this ear, nose and eyebrow trimmer. There are many products that only allow you to trim eyebrows, and I'm not really going to discuss those in this article, because you need a slightly different cut to be able to trim ear and nose hair that you do to cut just eyebrows.

But – with this product you can take care of all three. It is solidly built will last you a lifetime and is very easy to use. It comes with a variety of cutting blades, and runs on battery power, so you don't need to worry about recharging it. The eyebrow guide is slightly different to the ear and nose guide, and I doubt you mix them up.

A built-in spotlight allows you to easily see what you're doing, you can use it on wet hair, and it is really easy to clean just by popping off the heads and running them underwater. Highly recommended!

Wahl Trimmer All-In-One Lithium Ion

This is another product from the same manufacturer, and this one is interesting because it will also allow you to trim beards and hair on your head as well as the ear, nose and eyebrows, plus – as an added bonus it has a spectacular lithium ion battery that lasts for a massive length of time. If you happen to accidentally let the battery run down, it will even recharge in five minutes.

As I've mentioned before, I like this manufacturer, and when I can I always recommend their products because they think they're fantastic value for money and extremely well-built. This one is no exception.

This is more aimed at men solely, and I don't see that a woman would be likely to use this, but having said that in a pinch you could if you need to.

Conair Nt1 Nose Ear and Eyebrow Personal Grooming Kit

If you're on a budget, I can certainly recommend this one from Conair. It's a very powerful battery powered trimmer, which is capable of easily dealing with anything you might care to throw at it [unless you are a Klingon perhaps] and usually retails on Amazon for less than $10.

I mean seriously – how can it not be worth it for 10 bucks? On not saying it'll last you forever, but it's very good value for money. Just remember it needs a battery and you might as well order that when you buy this.

As with all the items on reviewing here this is a multipurpose want although you'd have a tough time cutting your beard properly with this – but having said that, that's not what it's designed for it is designed for ear, nose and eyebrows, and does a fantastic job dealing with them. Definitely a good, cheap trimmer!

Philips Norelco G370 All-in-1 Grooming System

This one is from another well-respected manufacturer – Phillips – a very prominent European electronics manufacturer, and this one takes a slightly different approach with the way they offer you different attachments there's a beard and mustache comb, a hair clipper comb and multiple different length settings.

It really is a great all rounder, and they're usually on sale at Amazon for less than $20. With this amount of attachments, I'm surprised they can sell it so inexpensively, and if you wanted to, this could be your only clipper. Fantastic value for money and really very very useful if you have a beard as well as unwanted facial hair.

Brilliant value for the money!

Groom Mate Platinum XL Nose & Ear Hair Trimmer

Now we come to my all-time favorite, and actually bought one of these for my husband instead of an electrical model. That is not saying there is anything wrong with an electrical device, but this is so simple and easy, but I find it extremely elegant and – if you're into that sort of thing – it doesn't waste resources by burning electricity

Is made from 100% stainless steel and comes with an unconditional lifetime warranty. Plus – if you're not happy with the product you can just send it back and get your money back I think it's a fantastic men's grooming tool!

Everybody I've spoken to says they love this, and I can highly recommend it based on my husband's use it's easy to use and very safe. By this and I guarantee you will never need to buy another ear, nose and eyebrow trimmer. Unless you lose it of course……
