Caring For Your Latex Clothing

For a long time latex clothing has been common only among certain groups of people. It is only in the past few years that celebrities such as Kate Moss, Lady Gaga, Dita Von Teese and Madonna among many others have taken this material as part of their wardrobes.

Latex is now used widely among couturiers for its dramatic appearance and designers such as Atsuko Kudo are creating amazing dresses, garters, corsets and many other items using latex. I must say that I absolutely adore wearing latex dresses and outfits. They are difficult to put on and even more difficult to take off but once you have them on, it feels like a second skin. Not only does the latex hugs your body and curves, giving you extra allure, but if the clothes are correctly made it shapes your body.

Latex wear

If you are new to wearing latex you must know that you have to take special care of your latex clothes if you want them to last. Properly cared for latex wear can last for years which is handy given the price of latex clothing.

Why Wear Latex Clothes?

Latex fascinates people because most of the time when worn it tends to be skin-tight, producing a "second skin" effect with the added bonus of having a strong hold of your body, therefore redefining your silhouette, a bit like a corset.

The touch of latex also has a special effect in many people. On the outside latex is soft and warms up to your body temperature which makes it pleasant to touch.

Latex is a very versatile material; it comes in different thicknesses which generally range from about 0.18 mm to 0.5 mm. Different thickness of latex gives very different types of clothing ranging from translucent latex clothing to very thick rubber clothing. You can choose the thickness of your latex clothes according to the effect you want to create and to the model of your outfit.

I wear latex clothes because it makes me feel sexy, it is like being naked without being naked. The material is so fragile that I feel untouchable when I am wearing a latex dress. As I've been told when wearing my latex dress from HMSlatex "Simple elegance inspires adoration".

Latex hugs, squeezes, it feels wonderful when you are wearing it.

How Are Latex Clothes Made?

Generally, instead of being sewn, latex clothing is glued along its seams.

However, I have a few latex clothes with zips for easy fitting.

Can latex clothes be repaired?

Yes, latex clothes can be repaired using materials similar to those provided in a bicycle repair kit. However, the result is rarely as good as the original garment.

How to keep your latex clothes shiny

Latex clothing is often polished to preserve and improve its shiny appearance. To shine your latex, make sure to use only products designed for that purpose, like silicon polish.

How Do I Put On My Latex Clothes?

Putting on latex clothing can be difficult, because latex has high friction against dry skin. To make it easier to put on, you can use talcum powder or lubricant on the inside of the garment.

I often use talcum powder to reduce friction against my skin when slipping latex clothes on. What I usually do is sprinkle some talcum powder on the inside of my latex dress or Latex Rubber Full Catsuits before I rub some talcum powder over my naked body and start to slide the garment on. It is easier if you have someone to help you dress.

I always make sure that I am freshly showered and I have not put on any creams, oils or perfumes because being a natural fabric, latex can be chemically affected by oils and perfumes. I also make sure not to wear any jewellery (including piercings) as it can damage latex; both by ripping it and by causing a chemical reaction resulting in a permanent stain.

Another easy way to slip into your latex clothes is using lubricant to make it slip so your latex clothes just glide over. This method however, makes it difficult to repair your latex if needed.

How To Wash A Latex Dress

To clean latex clothes, rinse them inside and out under lukewarm water.

Be aware that latex will stick to itself once you have removed any lubricants and talcum powder, so handle with care.

Leave to dry in a wooden or plastic hanger. Once dried, powder with talcum and store in a plastic bag in a cool and dry place, away from light.

Liquid Latex Clothing

Latex may also be painted directly onto the body as latex in liquid form, which is also sometimes used to close seams in the creation of latex clothing. Liquid latex is easier to remove as it is not meant to last, usually you remove it by tearing it apart.  Removal of a painted on liquid latex garment can result in painful hair removal so make sure that you have removed hair before using liquid latex. You can also use products such as orange oil to weaken the latex during removal.

I love the concept Mentalist, and of course I love wearing latex clothing. Once you have put it on it is so comfortable that you feel like if you were wearing nothing at all.

Latex represents,to me,a little rebellion, but really a person who thinks outside the box intellectually both in personality and IQ.;)
