Hudson Shoes-A Buyers Guide
Hudson Shoes was established in 1990 in London with the purpose to fill a gap in the affordable high quality footwear industry. In 2004 H by Hudson was launched which made the brand ethos available to wider range of customer. Primarily just selling mens shoes, in 2008 H by Hudson extended their product range to include a womens collection also. Hudson Shoes itself is an extension from the Hudson Jeans brand. They were founded in 2002 by Peter Kim and have a strong celebrity following due to their flattering and perfect fit nature. The Purified range is inspired by post wear writers from the Beat Generation and in particular the pioneer of the movement, Jack Kerouac. Jack was an American novelist and poet and some of the styles in the Purified range include engraved quotations on the soles of the shoes. The Purified collection includes luxury leather and suede lace up Paulie shoes, classic suede Redfield Chukka boots and traditional Browery leather Chelsea boots. The Paulie shoes and Redfield boots feature one of Jack’s sayings on their sole reading ‘my fault, my failure, is not in the passions I have, but in my lack of control of them.’
From the standard Men’s Collection we love the Waldren Bordo espadrille shoes that have canvas uppers featuring a nautically inspired knot. This is a cool summer style and is available in a number of colours including mustard, navy and mint green. If you are looking for a more formal style Peso Grey is one of our favourites. This style is a new addition for 2012 and is a lace up formal shoe with a burnished, vintage finish to the toe and heel with a contrasting collar. Now for the ladies, keep your eye on the exclusive styles in the collection as these have been chosen by Hudson designers and recreated in colours and materials unique to Hudson. These shoes are produced in a limited amount of numbers so they are like gold dust to snap up! We love Skye in Multi Tweed which is a style that combines the best of British fabric innovation with contemporary shoe design and East End tradition to produce a limited edition range of brogues and chukka boots. Skye is a brogue style and features tweed and calf leather and gorgeous ribbon laces for a feminine twist! We also love the Albion boot in tan; this boot allows you to embrace your inner rock chick! Influenced on biker styles Albion features a heavy buckle and plaited strap detail, we can just imagine our selves wearing these boots at a summer festival with a pair of denim shorts! If you are looking for a bit of height from your Hudson boots look no further than Pipet in Taupe. Pipet features reverso leather which is leather that thinks its suede and is a character filled lace up boot; we especially like the girly bows.
