Inverted Nipples – How to fix permanently without surgery
Having inverted nipples can seem like a purely cosmetic problem, but if you have flat or inverted nipples and need to breastfeed, then it can feel like a borderline emergency. Having inverted nipples is quite natural and it's not uncommon for one or both of them to be anywhere from flat to completely inverted. Many people look to surgery to fix this problem, but it's often viewed as cosmetic and many insurances won't cover it. Even despite that fact, you always want to try to avoid surgery whenever possible.
There are a few products on the market today that are very simple fixes, but they never seem to work for very long. There are several manufacturers who make shells or cups that are supposed to draw out the nipple, but they're difficult to use for very long and don't necessarily remained attached. This leaves the nipple free to retract. Needless to say, with these types of products it's often more frustrating using them than not using anything in the first place.
The good news is there's a way to fix inverted nipples permanently without surgery. The is a small device that uses miniature suction syringes to gently pull the nipple out from inversion. Simply attach the suction syringe to the flat or inverted nipple and slowly pull the syringe out until the nipple is sticking out, or until it starts to hurt. Usually this is done before going to bed so that you have the entire night for the product to work on the skin tissue. While the Niplet will usually stay on the entire night, it's not uncommon for it to fall off. If this happens to you, you can either wear a bra to bed to secure the Niplette in place, or you can try to use a nipple cream to improve the seal of the suction. Using something like petroleum jelly or lanolin will not only improve the seal but it will also help to lessen the irritation. Avent Niplette
If you choose to use the Avent Nipplette during the day, the product is very discreet and can be used without much worry about everyone staring at your breasts. You may want wear an extra thick bra or use breast pads to help hide the bulge of the product.
How quickly you can fix inverted nipples depends a lot on how severe the problem is. Reversing the natural direction of your nipples takes a lot of time and is a gradual process. You have to slowly stretch the skin using the suction from the device. You'll find that the nipple will want to retract to its normal position shortly after removal of the device. Over time the time the nipple stays protruded will get longer and longer until you'll no longer need the device except to renew the suction from time to time. Some people with flat nipples have seen success in just 3 days while others who had severe inversion tended to take up to 4 weeks to have the nipples straighten out. Each case is different, but the gradual success you'll see will encourage you to keep going.
The Avent Niplette is very effective at correcting inverted nipples. Many doctors have suggested using the Niplette as a last resort before surgery. Since surgery can't even guarantee to fix the problem, many people choose to use Avent's Niplette as a cheap and easy fix.
You may notice some lightening of the areolas, which is normal and will quickly fade. If you notice anything unusual about your nipples, or especially any pain it's important to consult a doctor.
