Jackets for men
There are plenty of jackets for men in stores today. Jackets not only keep you warm, but give others a sense of who you are. This is especially the case for men since they don’t always tend to buy and own as many jackets as women. Therefore, purchasing a jacket is a bigger decision. Here is a guide to jackets for men including pricing, style, and what that jacket conveys.
Men's Leather Jacket
The men’s leather jacket is one of the most popular jackets for men. It is especially popular amongst younger men in their 20’s and 30’s. The leather jacket comes in many different styles including a shorter coat style, a longer style, and a full length coat style. The shorter option is the easiest to wear. It goes well over jeans and slacks and matches most items. If it is clean leather versus more distressed leather, it can sometimes be worn to the office, although be careful if your office is very conservative.

The best part about the shorter option is that it is great for wearing on the weekends whether casually or if going out. The longer style and the full length style should be reserved for specific men. If you can fill out the jacket, then buy these styles, otherwise, stick with the short style. Also, don’t buy the longer style if you are not as tall or it will make you look shorter. Finally, be careful with the longer style. In order to carry it well, you have to be a more confident man and one who is willing to convey a certain street attitude. If that is not the look you want, avoid these longer styles. Finally, one other note, only certain men should opt for the brown leather jacket. If you are unsure of what color to get, stick with the black.
Men’s sports coat

Every man in their 20’s and up should own a sports coat. If you are in your 30’s, try to have at least 2 in the closet in order to swap them out. The sports coat is one of the most versatile pieces of clothing for a man. It can be worn to a party, a meeting, or when going out at night. Most men should own 2 – one for the summer that is in cotton or linen and one for the winter that is in wool or suede. If you are looking for a more conservative look or don’t have many sports coats, buy one in a classic color such as navy, black, grey or brown. Many men branch out and have other distinct patterns, but that is when they already have multiple coats.
The great thing about the men’s sports coat is how you can style it. It can be worn over jeans or a pair of nice slacks. It can be worn over a button down shirt or a t-shirt. It really depends on the look you are going for that night. The sports coat will make a man look instantly buttoned up which is fantastic.

A man’s bomber jacket is very distinct. Usually worn for a more casual look, it hits at the waist and fits relatively snugly. Some bomber jackets are worn by pilots and when wearing this jacket, it gives that casual, but cool look. If you are a more casual man and work in an industry that tends not to keep you in the office, but allows you to roam outside, consider a bomber jacket. It works for more casual settings as well like a casual bar or diner. These days, the bomber jacket is also being updated for a more versatile look, although the leather aviator looks are still the most popular.

Men’s Pea Coat
A fantastic coat for the winter, the men’s pea coat gives a very classic, preppy look. Usually it is double breasted and falls just past the waist. The best kind are made out of cashmere or wool and worn during the winter with a great scarf and gloves. When buying one, try a more traditional color such as black or navy. Also, make sure the coat is not too long and falls at the right place at the top half of your thighs. Don’t forget to button it and make sure that it is snug, but not too fitted that you can’t wear a sweater underneath. The waist area will tend to be a little tighter so men with a little bit more of a stomach should try to avoid this type of coat, otherwise, they will feel a little uncomfortable and it may not button up at the waist. This coat is an excellent option for a men’s winter coat that can be worn to the office and out on the weekends. Although it looks conservative, it can still be paired with jeans or casual slacks making it a very versatile coat.
There are other men’s winter coats out there, but the pea coat is the most distinctive. Men can also find down jackets and other longer wool coats in different style.

Men’s Trench Coat
A men’s trench coat is a great option for the office and weekends during the spring, summer nights and fall. This is one of the most classic coats and is great for protecting oneself from bad weather, especially rain. It can be double breasted or single breasted depending on the style. It will also usually be made out of a waterproof cotton. Finally, you will have to choose between short coats and long coats.
The shorter coat will fall past the waist, close to the knee. The men’s full length trench coat will fall closer to the ground. If you aren’t as tall, again, do not buy the full length trench coat. It will be too long for you and may look overwhelming.
Consider a trench coat if you are looking for a good spring or fall jacket that will last you a long time. The trench is stylish while being conservative, so it won’t go out of style for a long time. Also, this is one of the coats that you will probably not get sick of since the styles are similar year after year.
