Gold Jewelry

Passion for Jewels

There is nothing to beat the charm of gold, pearl or diamonds when it comes to jewellery. These can be simple or elaborate, delicate or chunky mainly depending up on the occasion. In this modern era, the types of jewellery like fashion jewellery, antique jewellery are gaining more momentum.A simple strand of pearls combined with delicate chiffon gives a grand appearance. Likewise diamond jewellery set looks grand and stunning with a heavy bright silk saree. It is ideal to wear simple jewellery set for a grand sari, otherwise one can easily mistake the entire decked up fashion as jewellery stand when you wear a lot of jewellery.

Costume jewellery is gaining more momentum due to the increasing fear of robberies and chain snatching. These are designed uniquely to match the costume suitable for any type of occasion. American diamonds are more preferred by ladies as an inexpensive substitute for real diamonds.

This hub will share some useful information in maintaining jewellery.

Care for Pearls

It is advisable to keep pearls in a separate pouch to protect them from any scratch. Don't let the pearls rub with each other and ensure that the pearl are not crushed.Never allow any tinge of ammonia, ink, vinegar or acids to get in to contact with pearls as they tend to damage the pearls. To clean the pearls, wipe them with a cloth moistened with mild soap and water. It is safe to rinse first and then dry the pearls with a soft cloth.Never use a jewellery cleaner to clean pearls. It is better practice to have the pearls restrung regularly for an intact arrangement.

Care for gold

To clean gold at home, we can use soap nuts.It is not advisable to rely on vendors who voluntarily offer to clean the gold. These vendors have special chemicals which help them in stealing gold while cleaning.

Care for Silver

Silver articles can be washed with soap water.Silver can be polished with silver polish and a soft cloth. It is ideal to store silver articles in a dark place because exposure to humidity and sunlight can cause silver metal to tarnish. It is advisable to dry clean the dress materials having a silver jari.

Care for diamond

Some of the important points to remember before buying a diamond are listed in the passage. It is wise to prefer buying diamonds from an experienced and trustworthy jewellery. The value of diamond is best judged by its size and quality. It is ideal to buy diamond set in platinum.

The worth of the diamond depends on 4 C’s namely colour, cut, carat weight and clarity.

Colour: The best colour is colourless. However; they may be of several colours including blue.

Cut: A good cut is what gives a diamond its sparkle and fire.A well cut diamond usually has 58 cuts.

Carat weight: A carat is divided in to 100 points so that a diamond of 25 points is described as quiquarter of a carat or 0.25 carats.

Clarity: It is directly related to the purity of the diamond. Some black spots often referred as vinglipunts are found in the diamonds. The fewer such spots, the more valuable the stone because the flow of light is less obstructed.

Let us care for our precious jewellery and enjoy the charismatic value for money spent.
