Kanye West: How To Steal His Style
Following up our recent North West style post we decided to continue our menswear series by focusing on her Dad, Kanye. The creative, who is almost as famous for his no holds barred opinion than his seven platinum albums very much divides opinion both with his music and his style choices. As an artist he has not held back in areas he feels he can add value with his vision and this includes clothing, already having worked with a host of top names from Louis Vuitton, A.P.C . and most recently Adidas.
Like always he has been outspoken on what he wants to achieve in the fashion world, distancing himself from the tag ‘designer’ instead trying to get across his passion to create and his aim to lower fashion price points while keeping standards high. As someone with such enthusiasm and interest in style what he wears is often scrutinized in an attempt to see what inspires and interests Kanye personally and we have focused on a few of his favourite pieces here.
Bottega Veneta Chelsea Boots
With his own line of ‘Yeezy’ footwear from the recently released 350 boost, back to his previous collaboration with Nike, Kanye West has a keen interest in what he wears on his feet and when he isn’t wearing his own design of shoes Kanye’s go to is his Bottega Veneta Chelsea Boots. Seen wearing both beige and grey colourways of the Chelsea boot Kanye often teams them with slim or ripped jeans and jumper or shirt.
A look that was heavily involved in Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 1 unveil, distressed clothing is a look West also includes in his own wardrobe which makes sense if that is the clothing he is moved to design. As mentioned Kanye often teams his Bottega Veneta Chelsea boots with ripped jeans or sometimes rocks his Yeezy 350s completing the look with a top depending on the occasion and weather. Popular choices of brands are Saint Laurent low waisted skinny jeans ripped at the knees and custom Levi’s 514 distressed to the max.
Kanye has been pictured a number of times in his oversized Vêtements, heavy metal inspired oversized hoodie for both formal and more everyday occasions. Not one to be boxed in by what others would perceive the artist to wear, championing polo shirts and skinny jeans from early on in his music career Kanye seems a big fan of the new Paris label often completing a completely dark coloured look with jeans and black trainers.
As is obviously clear by now, Kanye is a huge fan of different fabrics and contrasting approaches in his outfit combinations. One of his favourite pieces to achieve this look is his Haider Ackermermann velvet sweatshirt he has been spotted wearing in the front row of a number of fashion shows over the last few months of this year. Kanye has been seen wearing the velvet sweatshirt in a number of different colours with a number of different looks, confirming this is definitely a wardrobe staple for Mr West.
