Knee Liposuction Procedures

Updated on January 27, 2013

Introduction to Knee Liposuction

Knee liposuction probably isn't the first thing that comes to mind when someone thinks about liposuction of any type.  Yet, while most people are familiar with abdominal liposuction, or liposuction of the back, legs, or male breasts, there are other parts of the body that can also get attention from this cosmetic procedure.  While it is definitely more rare to see people request knee liposuction as opposed to a more common form, there are people who pay very close attention to their legs, and if there is extra fat or loose skin where there didn't used to be any, some people get upset at that prospect.  While there are cosmetic procedures available to take care of fatty deposits around the knee, this is a carefully done operation since the knees have to bear the weight of a person, and injuries to a knee can be catastrophic for a person's help.

There are two types of liposuction choices when it comes to looking at lipo for the knees.  The first is traditional, which includes anesthesia and proceeds like an actual operation.  There are non surgical options, which are better known as "low impact liposuction."  The most common for the knee area is the use of tumescent lipo, which uses liquid to flush out the fat cells and can be a little uncomfortable, but often has less side effects and an easier recovery time than more traditional surgeries.

Liposuction of the Knees, Considerations

There are several considerations you will want to make before even thinking about proceeding with liposuction for the knees.  The first is that any surgical procedure done around the knees has the danger of damaging the sensitive tissue.  While these risks are lower than ever before, you should still expect some heavy bruising and soreness for several days after the surgery, and you will want to take several days of and minimize movement and impact on the area to help avoid more serious injury.

Another consideration is the expense.  Knee liposuction tends to be a fairly expensive procedure because of the difficulty of the area being worked on and the additional care that has to be taken.  In fact, this particular liposuction procedure is probably one of the most expensive compared to others.  While it can be easy to understand working on jowls, male breasts, back, belly, or love handles - is it really worth that much money to get little areas by your knees worked on?  A lot of people once they realize the price decide that the pay off just isn't worth the expense.

Also, you will definitely want to make sure you find the right expert to do the procedure.  Always have a fully qualified cosmetic surgeon do the surgery to make sure you are safe and get the best results - especially with the amount of money you would be dropping on knees liposuction.

Knees Liposuction, Conclusion

While it doesn't have the press or media hype of other forms of cosmetic surgery, knee liposuction is becoming increasingly popular as many people see liposculpture as a way of toning body parts that are beginning to show age or sag, and not necessarily needing a complete overhaul. While this might sound minor, as stated before even the "non surgical" liposuction options should still be considered a serious operation and not taken lightly or without forethought.

Still, for people who want a little bit of work done and despair at how the work at the gym and diet aren't getting the results they want, knee liposuction is one way to get legs looking a big younger and more toned again, and to avoid the aging process.  While it's certainly not for everyone (although I guess my legs were never my best feature, so maybe I don't understand) this particular cosmetic surgery is an option for people whom this is important to.

Hello, thanks to all of you for the comments on my knee liposuction review. I agree that this isn't for me, but I'm not really focused on how my knees look. I figure that there's a lot more to worry about first. I'll just keep on my diet and go from there. Thanks for stopping by!
