Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave-In Conditioner

While on this natural hair journey with these 3c/4a tresses, this is one of the best leave-in conditioners that I've tried.

It's part of the Kinky Curly product line by Ms. Dillinger. The conditioner is "all natural" and provides a good "slip" for us curly headed girls! Its smooth, thick, and creamy and smells like the tropics!

This has been a leave-in product that a lot of YouTubers reach for and one of the leave-ins that you will be able to find many reviews on.

Essence Magazine "Beauty Best Seller List "2008"

KNOT TODAY TM is a creamy herbal conditioner and detangler designed to smooth the cuticle and remove knots, snarls and tangles from thick curly textured hair.

After washing hair, I applied the KNOT TODAY TM leave-in, generously and worked through troubled areas with a wide tooth comb, or you can use a detangling brush or comb of your choice.

The directions also say that you can use the Knot Today as a regular rinse out conditioner for wavy hair or as a leave-in for thicker curlier hair types.

It has also been noted as an excellent product to use after removing braids and extensions.

Knot Today Leave-In Conditioner Ingredients

Mango fuit extract, slipper elm, marshmallow root, lemongrass, cetyl alcohol, behentrimonium methosulfate, citric acid, phenoxyethanol and natural fragrance

Usage

Until recently, I was a constant "wash n go" lady but I've been keeping my hair in a two-strand twist style. I usally co-wash my hair than comb through the conditioner after I shower. I believe the instructions on the bottle says to condition the hair, rinse, and than add in as a leave-in. However, at the price of 12.00 a bottle for 8 ounces that practice becomes very pricey. Therefore, I only apply the conditioner once and leave it in.

The product is an essential if your going to apply Ms. Dillinger's Kinky Curly Custard. These products have been created to work hand and hand. The Knot Today seems to "anchor" the Kinky Curly Custard which enables you to get a more elongated curl instead of your hair "drawing up" causing you to lose a lot of length.

The product enables you to comb through thick curls easier and does not leave it feeling "greasy."

Most of the time I simply use the Knot Today as my leave-in and styler. My hair seems to be defined even without the application of the Kinky Curly Custard.

What Am I Looking for in a Leave-In?

My primary request from a leave-in is that it has "slip." That it glides onto the hair smoothly and is easily absorbed by each strand.

My second request is that I don't need to use a lot of the product to get the job done.

Thirdly, I'd like the product to be as natural as possible and I do not have qualms with glycerin, expect for in the winter months.

My Likes and Dislikes of this Product

Likes

  • I love the fact that you can simply "wake" up the Knot Today by spritzing your tresses with only water.
  • Knot Today can function as a leave-in and a styler, depending on your application of the product.
  • It's a great detangler.
  • Leaves hair smooth and shiny

Dislikes

  • Price - you can find alternatives that give you similar and better results at a better price point. However, keep in mind that the other product may not be "all natural" or is a more commercial product.
  • If you use "too" much, tresses will become extremely hard and you will need to wash out or add water to your tresses.
  • Product "will" flake if you use too much!

Conclusion

Try it, you may like it. There is another "all natural" alternative which is Giovanni's Leave-In conditioner. In fact, Knot Today and the Giovanni acts and smell like the same product. There is a Youtuber who actually bought the Giovanni Leave-In Conditioner, filled a depleted Knot Today bottle with half water/half Giovanni Leave-In and Voila! A Knot Today alternative!
