L'Oreal Paris Infallible Never Fail Lipcolor Review

Updated on August 5, 2012

L'Oreal Paris Infallible line of cosmetics claims to stay put all day. This review covers the Infallible Never Fail Lipcolour, which is a longwearing lipstick alternative.

L'Oreal Infallible Lipcolour is available at most drugstores for about $12. It comes in over 20 colors, so you'll be sure to find the right one for your skin tone.

What is L'Oreal Paris Infallible Lipcolor?

L'Oreal Paris Infallible Lipcolor is a double sided lip product that you use in place of lipstick. One half of the product is a lipcolor that you apply with a wand. The other side is a chapstick-like lipgloss. It does truly stay put once applied, much like a lip stain. Unlike a lip stain, the color is opaque and can be removed with makeup remover.

How to Use L'Oreal Paris Infallible Lipcolor

L'Oreal Paris Infallible Never Fail Lipcolor requires a two-part application. First, use the integrated wand to apply the lipcolor. Be careful to apply it precisely as once it is on your skin, it is difficult to get off. If you mess up badly, you can always take it off with some makeup remover (which is way better than when you mess up with a lip stain). Applying the lip color can be a little tricky to do precisely, so be patient and only apply a little at a time.

Allow the lip color to dry a few minutes and then apply the clear gloss. That's it! You've got infallible lip color that will last all day!

Is It Worth Buying?

Infallible lipcolor is definitely a drugstore product. The consistency of the lipcolor is a bit sticky when applied and then sets very dryly. If feels a bit like you've painted your lips. Furthermore, it will dry out your lips if you are not religious about reapplying the gloss every couple hours. L'Oreal's claims that it will last all day are fairly accurate. The color will rub off some, especially if you're doing a lot of eating, but it's lasting-power is way better than any typical lipstick. If you reapply the gloss frequently, the color will also last a bit longer. It is frustrating that a set-it-and-forget-it product requires the reapplication of gloss so frequently. It is nice that the color stays, but it is not as low-maintenance as I would like from a product that claims to last all day.

I do like the sturdy packaging and the fact that the product screws shut. It can handle a fair amount of abuse and not explode or melt in your purse.

Overall Infallible Lipcolor is an OK product. I do have it in a few colors and I use it from time to time. If you are looking for a budget longwear lipcolor, this is a product worth purchasing. It is not super-inexpensive, but it is also better than a lot of the drugstore competition. If you have a little extra cash to spend, opt for a department store brand instead.

ChristyWrites, I wish someone would come up with a creme lipstick that lasts all day. That would be fantastic.

bridalletter, yes, a longwear lipcolor can be a necessary item for some occasions. Even though this is not my favorite product, I find myself using it fairly frequently. Thanks for commenting!

Certain events call for this type of lipstick. Great review, any help with makeup products is great.

Thanks for your honest review. I do find this type of lipstick does get sticky too. I prefer creme lipsticks but then they don't last as long.. oh being a woman!
