Fountain of youth

Looking younger than one's real age is something that many strive for. Yet with the stress and unhealthy lifestyle as a consequence of modern life, having youthful looks is often elusive. Nevertheless, it is possible to age gracefully without going under the knife.

Looking younger is possible with the proper diet and lifestyle and without a doubt, many of known celebrities have learned to follow an alternative yet healthier lifestyle to achieve this. Going vegan is definitely one of the most effective ways to look younger and live healthier. Believe it or not, the vegan lifestyle has been the secret behind the youthful looks of Mimi Kirk, Annette Larkins and many other personalities.

Another known celebrity who is vegan is Alicia Silverstone. She used to battle severe asthma, acne and constipation while in her teens. Her turning point was when she decided to be a vegan at 21. Now at 37, Silverstone still looks as youthful as when she did her 'Clueless' movie. Her glowing skin and vibrant skin tone are proof of the glorious effects of the vegan diet on the overall appearance of a person.

These people are living proof that following a vegan diet will literally take off years from your face and body. More than these, going vegan has a lot of other benefits and taking the age off your face is merely the tip of the iceberg.

How It Works

Introducing into the diet more vegetables and fruits helps aid the body with all the natural nutrients and vitamins found in the different plant materials. Vegetables are easier to digest and most of the nutrients are retained and passed on to the body to be broken down to useful elements that it needs to function fully. Fruits on one hand are the best sources of all the vitamins one can think of. The best thing is that most of them are calorie-free.

Most of the vegetables have anti-oxidants which help rid the body of free radicals. Free radicals cause easy damage to the body cells. A direct result of such is looking old and saggy. Consuming green, leafy vegetables helps increase blood production and aids one in achieving that youthful glow. Cell renewal is also done in a much faster pace allowing the birth of new cells thus resulting to a healthy total body. Ultimately, faster cell renewal significantly affect how one looks.

On one hand, it is not a hidden fact that the consumption of more meat in the diet slows down the digestion process as most meat stays longer in the stomach. Meat is harder to digest and they often stay in the stomach up to 78 hours or more to be broken down. The longer breakdown of the food in the stomach, the body uses more resources that could have been spent in aiding other bodily functions.

Aside from these, if one is not sure of the sources of the meat, doubts as to its quallity and content arise. The conditions of the meat and how they animal sources were grown would also influence the effect of the meat on a person. Most poultry and meat are grown in conditions one could imagine possible. Antibiotics and other chemicals and feeds are often used to bulk the animals up or make them resistant to diseases. Imagine having these same meat on your plate on a regular basis

When the body does not get the proper amounts of nutrients and minerals it needs, it often shows in a lot of ways and appearance is often one of them. Tired and saggy skin, wrinkles and dry skin, and many others are only examples of the drastic effects on a person when his diet does not provide for what his body needs.

Hello Good Guy! I am glad you are careful with what you eat. We should defintiely be concerned with what we put on our plate. We only got one body to last us one lifetime, and yes agree with the steaming. As much as possible, it is better to preserve the nutrients in the food we eatby not overcooking them or frying them in s lake of lard. Thank you for reading.

Hi vocalcoach! Thumbs up to you for getting there. It is a lifestyle that needs commitment. The benefits definitely outweigh all the sacrifices at the start. I believe people will only find it hard following a vegan lifestyle when they are not fully committed to it. Learning more about it will make it a lot more easier than merely following it just because someone famous or someone you knew practices it. Thank you for insight.

I watch my diet solely for health purpose. Healthy diet contributes to better health, and I suppose it helps maintain one's physical appearance as well. Nowadays, when I eat at home I steam my food with vegetables and beans.

      Vote up.
