Finding And Fitting Bras For Men

Updated on October 16, 2009

Size Your Bra

First, measure across your chest, under the region where your breasts would be. Then take a measurement across the largest part of your chest. The difference between these two measurements is your cup size. A half inch difference is a AA cup, a whole inch is an A cup, two inches is a B cup, and so on and so forth.

To get the band measurement, simply measure under your chest where the band will sit. (If you get an odd number, just round it up to the nearest whole number, ie, from 33 to 34.)

This is just a general guide, depending on your particular body shape, you may need to go up or down a size in either measurement. To make things even more fun, bra manufacturers seem to peversely enjoy making bras in their own special sizes, therefore, a 40A in one brand may be equivalent to a 42 AA in another.

Whether you wear a bra because you like the look, or the feel, or because you have to due to your body shape, there's a bra out there for every man. If you need help on sizing your bra, there is a quick guide to the right which should help you on your way.

Stealth Bras

Want to keep your bra wearing under wraps? Seamless bras, also known as T Shirt bras, are the prime type of bras for stealth bra activity. These bras are also excellent for men who have to wear bras due to medical conditions, as well as men who simply want to wear bras They are specially designed without the visible seams and lace which adorn many bras, so they can be worn under t shirts and shirts.

If you want to make sure that your bra is not seen, wearing one that matches the color of your shirt is essential. This sounds like an obvious statement, but even women occasionally make the faux pas of wearing a black bra under a white shirt.

Flamboyant Bras

Don't want to hide it? Then there is a whole world of exciting lingerie out there for you. Lace bras, mesh bras, open cup bras, demi cup bras, the lingerie world is your oyster. Because your choice will be largely dictated by personal preference and your own tastes, it's impossible to write an article that tells each and every man what he should wear, but here are some tips for picking a stunning bra.

Match Your Eyes - If you happen to have nice blue or green eyes, you'd be surprised how good a bra of a similar shade will look. Complimentary colors will also make your eyes stand out, which will make you look even hotter in that bra.

Skin Contrast - If you happen to be pale, staying away from light colors is a good idea. White lace on white skin, especially skin that never sees the sun, makes for a fairly pasty appearance. Black, on the other hand, provides a stunning contrast. If you are darker skinned, whites and other bright colors are great choices, the brighter the better in fact. Light skinned people tend to look better in rich colors, deep reds and and rich blues.

Of course, for every rule, there is an exception, so don't feel hemmed in by any of these tips, wearing lingerie is about expressing yourself, so make your own rules, and then break them if you want to.

Vive la revolution lingerie!
