Mommy and me - matching dresses

Updated on October 14, 2015

A mother and daughter share the most special bond of all. A mother is a role model for her little girl, and the daughter is the mini-me of the mother. And that’s why there is hardly anything cuter than seeing these two lovely ladies wearing matching clothes. It is a great way to celebrate some special occasion, such as holyday, Christmas, friend’s wedding and all the other times when you want to achieve the cuteness overload. However, there is a trick to it. Matching clothes at all costs is not the way to go. You should fine the subtle line between cute and silly. We’ll help you with that.

Not necessarily mini-me

Though you might think your daughter is a miniature version of you, she still has her own personality, so you should adapt the choice of clothing to her. Not only to her wishes and style, but her age and build too. So it would be quite impossible for you to wear entirely the same clothes in different sizes. Consider pieces with same patterns and colors. Opt for the same materials but different cuts. For instance, you can choose maxi lace dress, while your little girl can wear the same fabric dress, but A-line that fits little girls better.

In all shapes and sizes

If there is one thing that is wearable for all ages, shapes and sizes, that is jeans. So it is the cutest and the most practical way of matching outfits with your little one. From denim shirts and tutu skirts, to denim pants and print tee-shirts, or even denim dresses, you can find just about anything of those things in both kids and adults departments. And it is also the perfect way of wearing matching clothes in everyday occasions, if you were considering taking a walk in the park, and brag about your loving mommy-daughter relationship.

Dressing up for the occasion

A formal occasion is a whole different story. It is your moment to shine. Going for a wedding? No problem. You can find girls formal wear in various boutiques and online stores and then chose some similar pattern dress or the same color. Buying the same dresses (and there are many stores where you can do that) is a simple solution, but why do it that way when you can make it more fun? Use your imagination and combine details to reach the perfect matching style without looking entirely the same.

You know what we are thinking about, right? The best way of spicing up an outfit is of course by accessorizing. So, if you are not able to find exactly the same dresses, opt for the similar ones and tie it all up with the same or similar accessories. Hair ribbons? Why not? Matching hats? Way too cute! Really, there is no end to possibilities here. You can wear similar purses, lucky charm bracelets, you can even make them together. Hair bands or similar hairstyles are a great option too, braiding for example are equally stylish choice for both mothers and daughters.
