Nicvel has been an educator for over 29 years. Her passion for nature, traveling, and life has taken her into a variety of places.

Then and now...

She was one of the most admired women in history for her beauty. Real beauty or exaggerated legend, Cleopatra is still an icon of allure and poise. What was her secret? Natural products and essential oils. From pure honey to goat milk, clay and sour cream; frankincense and myrrh. She relied on nature and so should we.

Essential oils have been used for ages for different purposes; toning, smoothing, and protecting the skin as well as soothing and calming the spirit. They are non-toxic when 100% natural. Better yet, you can make your own.

However, it is important to remember that when working with natural ingredients you must always test before you use it since some people can develop allergies.

Like legendary Cleopatra, you don’t need to spend a fortune on your skin. If you are like me, you look for reliable products, free of all questionable ingredients found in store-bought brands. I have been making my own soaps, lotions, serums, and moisturizers for some time now using natural ingredients and essential oils.

Of course, in doing this there’s a lot of research to do beforehand but always worthy in the end.

I have been using this anti-aging serum for quite some time now and the results are amazing. It gives my skin a natural glow while hydrating and toning. The best thing about this serum is that I can use it during the day under my moisturizer and at night to keep my skin soft and hydrated.

This is what I put in my face and neck every day.

*Annatto oil: The tocotrienols found in annatto seeds makes it a perfect antioxidant. It helps reduce signs of wrinkles, blemishes, and tightens up your skin.

*Coconut oil: It's anti-microbial and hydrating.

*Rosehip oil: Nourishes and regenerates the skin, reducing inflammation and improving skin texture.

*Sandalwood: This fragrant oil is anti-septic and a natural astringent.

*Frankincense: Natural toner. The Egyptians knew best!

*Vitamin E: Natural antioxidant

*Lavender oil: Lightens age spots and scars.

These together equals a power punch for your skin.

How to make your serum:

  • 2 tbsp of Annatto oil (to make it pour a tablespoon of the seeds in 1 ½ spoon of the liquid coconut oil. Stir at low temperature for 3 to 4 minutes. The oil will turn into an orange color. Let cool for 15 minutes before adding the other ingredients)
  • 1 ½ tbsp. coconut oil (liquid)
  • 1 tbsp. rosehip Oil
  • 2 drops of sandalwood oil
  • 2 drops of frankincense oil
  • ¼ tsp. Vitamin E
  • 2 drops of lavender oil

Mix all the ingredients well and pour into a glass dropper. When finished, your serum should look like the picture shown below.

Think it is too greasy? No. Therefore I love this serum. Your skin will absorb it leaving a veil of softness and radiance. I use a half dropper and massage my face with it for five minutes. This is part of my morning and evening ritual. Give it a try and see the results.
