Name Tattoo Designs

Name tattoo designs are a very popular mainstream tattoo. Name tattoo designs can be extremely meaningful to the wearer, representing their family, heritage, and beliefs. Men and women choose name tattoos for many different reasons. Some people choose to get their own names inked while others choose the names of children, partners, family, loved ones, and those who are no longer with us. The name tattoo is a perfect way to represent yourself or someone you love. Child name tattoo designs are a great way to symbolize your love for your children, a very powerful tattoo. Name tattoos of your children is a lifelong meaningful design.

As you briefly read above, men and women do choose to get their own name tattooed on their body. Women usually get their first name tattooed. These tattoos may be inked on the back neck, arms, stomach, or worn as a lower back tattoo designs. They may include colored ink or tattoo symbols such as beautiful diamond tattoos, rose tattoos, or butterfly tattoo designs. Men usually choose to get their last name tattooed. The upper back/shoulders is the most popular place that men choose for this design. Men may also choose their first name and it may include tattoo symbols such as a skull, cross, or eagle.

Name tattoos can be designed in various art styles or on ribbons and banners. As you can see in the photos on the right, there are many different styles that can be applied to your name tattoo. There are plenty of styles to choose from so you may want to take the time to do your own research and make sure you find a style that you want. Name tattoos can also include a variety of tattoo symbols as well. You may want to add a tattoo symbol to give your name tattoo symbolic meaning. For example, we will look at the butterfly tattoo. The butterfly tattoo can represent transformation, change, and freedom. If you add the butterfly to your name tattoo, it can take on these meanings. The same can be true with any tattoo symbol added to your name.

There are a variety of creative things you can apply to name tattoos to make them unique. You have already learned that you can add different art styles and tattoo symbols to your name tattoo. You can also use a variety of different coloring to really make them standout from all others. Although the traditional black ink is seen more commonly, we are now seeing more and more colored name tattoo designs in this day and age. This can be done by adding tattoo symbols or colored ink to your letters.

Choosing Name Tattoo Designs

There are a variety of different reasons that name tattoos are chosen by men and women. We already discussed having your own name tattooed on you. This gives you a level of respect for your name, your brand. You should be proud of the name you own and you should respect it to the fullest. Having your own name tattooed on you should give you a sense of pride and appreciation of everything your name stands for.

Another popular variation of name tattoos is having the names of your children tattooed on you. Whether you are a mom or dad, this is a great way to show your love for your children. We love our children unconditionally from the very first day they are born. When it comes to our children, they own our heart. Nothing shows this connection and eternal bond better then having their names tattooed on you. Unlike friends, boyfriends, and girlfriends, our children will always be a part of us. Name tattoos in this sense are a great meaningful tattoo.

Name tattoos can also be used to remember someone close that we have lost in our life. All of us have lost a loved one at one point in our life. It may be a mother, father, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, cousin, or a close friend. It could be a grandma or grandpa also. Whether it was family or not, this would relate to someone special in our life. You may have lost a husband, wife, or even a child. A name tattoo of this special person is a great way to keep their memory alive within you as a tattoo. It can be there to remind you of great memories and that special connection. It is important to remember, don't look at this in death, but celebration of a great life.

As I am sure you already know, some men and women choose to get tattoos with their partner's name. While this may seem like a great idea, it can also be a lifetime mistake. Couples break up all the time and then you are left to constantly view their name tattooed on your arm. This is not to deter you from getting such a tattoo. But in all honesty, you need to make sure you weigh this decision out. If you want to get your partner's name tattooed, then follow your heart. If you are not sure, you might want to consider another tattoo or give it some time. Even with laser tattoo removal, there are still many women and men walking around with the names of lost love tattooed on them. At the least, they still bear the scars of their past tattoo.

Remember, if you are getting the name of a partner tattooed on you, make sure you give it a second thought. The tattoo may last longer then your love for one another. Name tattoos are a great way to show appreciation, pride, loyalty, and rememberance. Make sure you do your own research and take the time to look at a variety of different name tattoo designs. If you feel that the name tattoo is not for you, be sure to follow the links below to view more tattoo symbols, designs, ideas, and meanings. Thanks for visiting.

      Another awesome hub Ricky.

You give some great advice on choosing a design to go with a name. I must admit the name and DOB of children would be a good way for Dad's to remember birthdays, as most men seem not to be able to hold that information. Lol

      Well done Ricky, thumbs up

Neat idea. Just have to be careful if you tattoo the name of someone who you might later never want to see again. lol

I totally agree with the problem of putting a significant other's name on your body. Perhaps a better alternative is to put a symbol or picture representing your loved one. That way, if you have a falling out, you can always make that picture mean something else. Voting this Up and Beautiful.

This is very interesting! Well, when people honor their own name it is a bit disconcerting to me, home address on the forehead would have been really useful after a few too much, I guess LOL (just kidding) Though, I like the idea of the tattoos with loved ones names intertwined with some other intricate design not just on their own.

Some of those tattoos are really beautiful. I know two people who got tattoos of their partners name, and now have to live with the reminder of a failed relationship everyday.

They were all pretty and colorful. The only problem i see, perhaps you will change partners and the name remains. I guess you could have it removed..Cheers

You again have given us an interesting Hub. People really should think and think a thousand times before getting another person's name tattooed. I sure would not want to carry around my ex's name for years!

It is nice when people get their children's names tattooed. I know a woman who has her son's newborn footprint tattooed on her leg and the boy's name is just above. It is beautiful.

Thanks again for the great Hub. I enjoyed it very much.

I strongly feel, and my artist feels the same that you should tattoo the names of children, parents, siblings and the deceased. Tattooing the name of a spouse or partner is risky. If you and your partner want to get a tattoo to represent your love, get something that will be meaningful to you, even if your relationship ends. For example, my wife and I got puzzle pieces in the shapes of the states we are from (they match up perfectly) with a half heart in each one. Oregon and Washington are always going to be fond to us, so, there's no risk there... plus, they can be easily filled in if needed :-) nice work...

I'm glad I never got a tattoo in my youth. I have visions of what it would look like now that I'm wrinkled! My AARP magazine had an article on the tattoos old folks are getting that say " Do not resusitate" on their chest. No kidding!

I knew I spelled that wrong: resuscitate!

*PDX, good call. I was thinking seriously of getting my spouse's name tattooed, not no more. Needless to say why. Great point. Even when you think everything is great, for me, it just isn't the case. It hurts. PDX, your right. Great point noted.

*Mary, thanks for dropping by. LOL Always important to remember your tattoo is for life. The back, arms, chest, and legs are good spots. It is a good point Mary, thanks for sharing.
