No Heat Curls - Tutorial

Updated on October 4, 2012

Do you want curly hair but don't want to have to use a curling iron? You have come to the right place! I'm going to show you how I do my hair when I want to wear it curly.

Step One

Start with wet hair - this is a "the night before" hairstyle. You will be sleeping on it, and when you wake up, you'll have curly hair.

Grab a small section of hair at the top of your head. Separate into 3 sections, and begin doing a French braid.

** If you have hair parted on the side, like I do, make your French braid slightly off-center. Begin the braid closer towards the side with less hair. This will ensure that you will end up with equal curliness on both sides of your head.

Step Two

Continue your french braid until you reach the base of your head, and then continue with a normal 3-strand braid. Tie off the "tail" with a tiny elastic.

** For those with a side part - your French braid will begin on the side with less hair and end on the side with more hair.

Step Three

Sleep on it!

I like Suave's Touchable Finish hairspray in Extra Hold. It smells good, holds my hair in place, but doesn't leave it too crunchy.

Step Four

When you wake up in the morning and are ready to do your hair, simply undo your french braid and shake it out lightly with your fingers. If your hair doesn't hold curls well or tends to frizz, spray your curls with your favorite hairspray and scrunch them.

Step Five

Enjoy your curly hair! That's all there is to it.
