So You Want Long Hair

Nothing in the world is going to make your hair instantly become long like Rapunzel's in one second. Absolutely nothing, I'm sorry to say. It will take time to grow out your hair no matter what products you use or treatments. You'll need to be patient. None of the products I recommend will make your hair grow instantaneously. If you want to fake long hair immediately purchase a nice wig or get hair extensions.

Now Not Your Mother's Way to Grow Long and Strong Hair seemed to help my hair grow a little bit quicker, but it also has some negatives to it's usage. I also did a few other things on the side to encourage my hair to grow more quickly at the same time as using these products so I will include a list of those as well to hopefully help you battle your non-growing locks into cascading long lengths.

NYM Way to Grow Long and Strong Hair Shampoo

Not Your Mother's Way to Grow Long and Strong Shampoo

This shampoo has a pleasant smell. It's a bit fruity, like strawberry almost. If you dislike stronger smelling hair care you may want to avoid this product, but if you like having smell to your shampoo this has a nice aroma. The product itself is smooth and silky to the touch. It looks quite a bit like many conditioners. It still lathers though like any other shampoo. Between the shampoo and the conditioner of these product lines I think I preferred the shampoo. It seemed to just melt into the hair and it felt wonderful and refreshing to apply.

To use you simply pour a small amount into your cupped hand and massage through your damp hair and on your scalp for a good three minutes. Rinse after you have done this with warm or room temperature water. If you desire you can reapply and massage again into your hair for three minutes. I felt that using twice improved how my hair felt versus only once. It's essential to massage your scalp and hair with this product, so don't skip that step if you're really serious about your hair growing mission.

Has my hair grown faster since I started using this product? I'd say yes, but keep in mind I did a few extra things to my hair as well to help it grow. I've been using the product for about two months and my hair has grown a little under an inch. Has my hair grown stronger? Not really. I believe that my hair only became stronger by adding a deep condition product to my weekly hair care treatment.

NYM Way to Grow Long and Strong Hair Conditioner

Not Your Mother's Way to Grow Long and Strong Conditioner

Not Your Mother's Way to Grow Long and Strong Conditioner is not as amazing as the shampoo of the same line. I felt that it wasn't hydrating enough for my hair on it's own so I switched every few days between it and another conditioner which seemed to make my hair feel and look better. Before doing so my hair looked a little dry.

This conditioner looks very unlike any conditioner I've ever used before on my hair. It has a white foamy consistency that took me by surprise when I first used it.

To use this product apply to your hair after rinsing out shampoo. Massage into your hair a few minutes then rinse off with room temperature water. You can repeat if you desire, though I felt once was enough for my hair type.

Has this product helped my hair grow longer and stronger? I'd say it's assisted in my hair growing about an inch after two months. Again I did use another conditioner on my hair as an alternate while using this product and I did use several other products as well to hopefully help my hair grow longer, so I'm not really a hundred percent sure if this conditioner helped. I feel that the shampoo of this line definitely gave my hair a boost, but the conditioner might be something you could swap out for the use of another more strong conditioner instead. Read on for my other product recommendations that I used to help my hair grow.

Before Using NYM

I stupidly decided to cut off my hair as I had a healthy amount of my roots grown out and some ugly faded red colored ends to my hair. I had attempted to dye it all brown and to use Color Oops on it to get rid of the red hair or at least make the fade out look better. As those option didn't help I decided to cut out the dyed ends and cut my hair into a little shorter than chin length bob with bangs. Needless to say I disliked it and decided to take the plunge into growing it back out as promptly as possible by trying out Not Your Mother's Way to Grow Long and Strong Hair products.

After Two Months

After Using Not Your Mother's Way to Grow Long and Strong Shampoo and Conditioner

After using these products (and a few other products to assist) my hair has grown a little under an inch in two months. This isn't really groundbreaking or amazing, but I'm happy that it's grown at all. I have had a hard time getting my hair to grow quickly in the past, so it's exciting to me that it's actually made some progress since using NYM products.

Other Products I Used and Some Tips

  • Avon Advance Techniques Reconstruction 7 Restoring Conditioner (alternating between this and the Not Your Mother's Way to Grow Long and Strong Conditioner)
  • Avon Advance Techniques Reconstruction 7 Intense Recovery Mask (apply once a week and leave on for ten minutes before rinsing off)
  • Prenatal Vitamins Daily (I'm post pregnancy and breastfeeding my baby so that's why I take a prenatal vitamin still on the advice of my doctor. It does help a bit with nails and hair growth. Otherwise if you aren't with child or breastfeeding your child you may want to use a B Complex vitamin instead)
  • Avon Morrocan Hair Oil (apply just a little to hair if it looks dry)
  • Don't wash hair every day unless necessary. Attempt to every other day
  • Avoid using hot water on hair
  • Avoid using hot style tools on hair
  • Air dry instead of blow dry hair
  • Comb hair with wide toothed comb so as not to break it as easily
  • Run a brush over your scalp in a gentle massaging way to stimulate the scalp to hopefully grow hair quicker
  • Get a trim at least every other month to help your hair growth. I did get my hair trimmed a little about a month in and it seems to have grown more steadily. I didn't have much cut off just a little to ensure any split end were nullified.
